Cobain got the press because he’s dead, Dead don’t make you great.

Kurt Cobain was a crap guitarist, wrote some pretty good song for sure but his playing was sloppy. He made so many mistakes. The unplugged album he makes lots of mistakes and his voice would constantly go out of tune. It isn’t disrespecting. Bob Dylan is not a great singer, yet I like him a lot and he is hugely influential. Musically there were plenty bend batter than Nirvana at the time

Hero? Boy do you have that wrong. Grohl isn’t even in my top 20. I could also care less what he would think if he read this, but thanks for asking.

Chances are he would think you are just another a-hole overly fantatical fan doing the same old comparison thing that hangs over his head.

Wow! Someone who actually liked the article! Thanks for taking the time to read it and for your input. You could be right that Cobain was done with music around In Utero, but sadly we’ll never know what he would have accomplished. Also, nicely put with the comparisons of old with new, or matured.

And, I agree with most of what you had to say. Dave does eclipse Kurt in many ways. Longevity and guitar skill are the most notable.
Where I disagree is when you said if Kurt had lived his music would’ve suffered. I think that Kurt was done with music by the In Utero came out. I simply think he would’ve quit. One big thing Kurt had on Dave is the fact that he had his own sound. He made solos that hurt to listen to….but you would still turn it up. His music invoked raw emotion and drew the listener in. With this said, comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. Or, maybe better put Sabbath to Pantera, Greenday to the Sex Pistols, or Hendrix to Eric Clapton. Each are great and helped make music and rock what it is.

Sure, he’s probably more musically talented. He just simply was unable to express himself through music like Cobain did.

“Calling Kurt Cobain a great guitarist is like praising mediocrity.” Perhaps calling this a “great” article is praising mediocrity. Perspective.

Would we know who Dave Grohl is without Cobain? He’s very talented, so it’s likely that we would. However, Kurt Cobain is a household name for a reason. He no doubt made Dave Grohl much more well known.

Oh, you can decipher the “powerchord simplicity” of Cobain? If it’s that easy, maybe you should do what he did?

Sorry for my rudeness but your article is disrespecting one of the most influential artists of the 90’s.

First of all,I’d like to say that Kurt and Dave were,in my opinion, two people who liked the other very much and both would hate to see such an article,so I say,if you really do respect either of them, pls do stop writing such articles.Id also like to say that Kurt’s filled with creativity,he’d have something whether he’s 19,27 or 60 something,it’s jut a matter of if it’s appreciated by the majority.According to what I know and have read of Kurt Cobain,he’s a true musician only playing music for the sake of playing, not trying to earn money and live like modern musicians(one of the reasons why I’ll never listen to anything from Taylor swift or anybody of that sort).Hes always been a rebel and even Nirvana’s sound was,in a way, rebelling against what the majority appreciated. Its why many people love kurt cobain and would come complaining about articles like this,I’m only one of many, heck,I probably won’t even be back to read your reply,it’s meant to be a note to you.

What’s most important is that you understand that Kurt Cobain isn’t,at all, what you know.Keep in mind.He didn’t have to play the guitar and sing,he ‘wanted’ to.
