Now, fans of both Savini and the films can get a close look at inferno-Jason in action after escaping from Hell! It appears like Savini was highly-inspired from the 9th installment in the F13 franchise.

At the end of Friday the 13th Part 9: Jason Goes to Hell, Jason gets drug into the depths of hell, seemingly gone forever. This Jason model reflects Tom Savini’s interpretation of what might have happened to Jason after this epic event.

This version of Jason Voorhees was offered as a pre-order only item on Backerkit, and as a reward for Kickstarter backers (at appropriately listed tier). This is the first Jason created by Savini since Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter (1984), and the first new Jason in the series since the 2009 film reboot.

Friday the 13th: The Game is being developed for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, for release in Early 2017.

Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider Reboot To Be “Realistic” And “Grounded” https://www.yellmagazine.com/roar-uthaugs-tomb-raider-reboot-realistic-grounded/117490/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/roar-uthaugs-tomb-raider-reboot-realistic-grounded/117490/#respond Thu, 20 Apr 2017 14:52:09 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=117490 Video game to movie adaptations don’t exactly have a stellar track record. With the mid-noughties blighted by Uwe Boll’s B-movie takes on BloodRayne (2005), House of the Dead (2003) and Alone in the Dark(2005), this decade hasn’t exactly seen the release of many successful crossovers, either: 2016’s Assassin’s Creed and Warcraft both ultimately received middling reviews despite having the big-money backing of 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures respectively. The run of poor video game-based films looks like it may finally be coming to an end however, with the release of Norwegian director Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider reboot scheduled for next year. The iconic gaming heroine last appeared on the big screen as portrayed by Angelina Jolie in 2003’s critically panned Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, but a lot has changed for the franchise in the intervening 15 years.

In addition to numerous main series video game entries, the Core Design-created character has graced numerous spinoffs, including a 2007 animated TV series, Revisioned: Tomb Raider Animated Series, and multiple comic books and novels. Croft has even been the subject of iGaming properties. In this Tomb Raider slot review you can see that the character has lent her likeness to a five-reel casino title that features iconography and sounds associated with the video game series, as well as symbols and bonus features – such as the Idol Bonus – being based around the franchise’s explorative themes. Unlike traditional three-reel slot machines, five-reel titles such as Tomb Raider offer multiple paylines and multiple ways to win to players; you can read all about it here.

More recently, publisher Square Enix afforded Lara Croft a full reboot in the form of 2013’s Tomb Raider, released for current and last-gen consoles. The title won praise for doing away with the over-the-top adventures of the voluptuous, one-dimensional Croft of the late-1990s in favor of a more grounded, down-to-earth narrative that depicted the explorer as a strong yet human, multi-faceted young woman. Thankfully, if a recent interview Uthaug gave to GQ magazine is any indication, Rhianna Pratchett’s characterization of Croft as seen in the 2013 title and its 2015 sequel is likely to serve as a major inspiration for the latest big screen adaptation of the popular series. “Our movie takes a more realistic, grounded approach,” the director insisted when discussing how the film stacks up next to other cinematic adaptations, adding that while Croft is undoubtedly a strong protagonist, “she is not a superhero”.

Much like the 2013 video game reboot, the 2018 movie will serve as the origins story of Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft, introducing players to the character at a time when the young woman – despite having “spirit and potential” – is still questioning her purpose in life and beginning to hone her survival skills as well as shape her personality. “Our goal is to show the complete journey that Lara Croft takes, and that means acknowledging both the emotional and the physical aspects of her evolution,” Uthaug said. In Swede Vikander, distributor Warner Bros. have a refined actor who is both experienced but yet to be typecast; and, providing Geneva Robertson-Dworet’s script is up to scratch, could well come to positively redefine who audiences know the character of Lara Croft to be.

Rapheumets Well Unleash Sci-Fi Symphonic Metal With New Single, “Enders Door” https://www.yellmagazine.com/rapheumets-well-unleash-sci-fi-symphonic-metal-single-enders-door/117476/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/rapheumets-well-unleash-sci-fi-symphonic-metal-single-enders-door/117476/#respond Thu, 20 Apr 2017 00:35:04 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=117476 Hickory, NC-based sci-fi metal band, Rapheumets Well (Ra-few-mets), will release their next full-length, Enders Door, via Test Your Metal Records on May 26th. Once again they will bring forth a voyage enriched with lore and a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds.

The synopsis of Enders Door is in the fifth era of the Avomenian Empire, amidst the planetary ruins of Vaath, a rogue traveler would discover an artifact that would forever change his place in the cosmos.

Upon arriving to retrieve the artifact, it became apparent that Eryos’s brother, Nathyiem, would never make it to their arranged meeting point. In departing from the planet Vaath, Eryos received a distress signal from his brother’s ship, coming from an uncharted planet. Upon arriving, he found an odd world inhabited by a mysterious species called the Dreth, led by lecherous matriarch named Eishar. It is here that he would uncover a faced-door, an inter-dimensional gateway to the Ender.

Rapheumets Well has premiered their new music video for the album’s first single and title track. Check it out right here on Yell! Magazine.

Drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward comments:

The song ‘Enders Door’ highlights our album’s mission to present this odd story in which the traveler, following his brothers distress beacon from what seems to be a downed ship, finds himself in a very uncompromising situation with a inter-dimensional being and the agenda of a lecherous female named Eishar. The video is completely self-produced and with the help of David ‘King’ Johnson, we tried to capture elements of our story while presenting the technicality and emotion of our music. In many ways we are trying to convey issues we all deal with through our music, such as confusion, anxiety, fear, and revelation in seeking truth. There is symbolism here of course; in our pursuits to find ourselves we must brave trials that permit our weakness to manifest to find tangible truth.

About Rapheumets Well:

Inspired by the fictitious universe of Sovael, Rapheumets Well is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel. Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers. The word ‘Well’ refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.

Formed in 2008, 2011 and 2012 saw their first two demos followed by their first self-release full-length, Dimensions, unleashed in 2014 that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multiverse. In 2016, they released their highly praised sophomore album, The Exile, via Test Your Metal Records.

Now in 2017, from the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of Rapheumets Well’s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities once again with the band’s third release, Enders Door, due out on May 26th, via Test Your Metal Records.

Turncoat Needs Something To Believe In, Releases “American Dream” https://www.yellmagazine.com/turncoat-in-releases-american-dream/117469/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/turncoat-in-releases-american-dream/117469/#respond Wed, 19 Apr 2017 23:32:55 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=117469 I get it. A Detroit-based hardcore act named Turncoat kind of pigeonholes itself into writing lyrics about disenfranchisement, social injustices, and political unfairness… among other topics that affect our lives. It’s not like they’re going to sing about California Dreamin’, peace, love, and happiness. And so is the recently released track “American Dream,” from the band’s craftily titled 2016 Eulogy Recordings EP, Self-Titled.

Great! I can get behind that mission statement, but I’m certainly not going to trample on the memory of our forefathers who fought for this land nor on those who continue the fight to this day. So, to paraphrase glam metal band Poison, when you feel like bitchin’ about getting old, think of those who never got the chance.

The American Dream you sing of, maybe it’s not about getting rich or finding fame, or anything else so shallow. Maybe it’s about raising a family in a country without fear of being persecuted for your beliefs. Maybe it’s about living without the fear of being shot by your government. Maybe it’s about keeping most of what you earn and not being taxed out the ass. Maybe it’s about be able to start a band and using it as a platform to express your discontent.

Guitarist Keith Keister commented on the music and the video:

‘American Dream’ is groovy, fast paced, straight forward example of exactly what we’re trying to convey as a band. Off our Eulogy Records debut EP, it’s definitely one of my favorites live and on the recording. This video gives a simple ‘90s-ish home video vibe and showcases some of the places we drive by, live near or see in our everyday life in Michigan and shows us in a very raw and back-to-basics perspective.

You can purchase Turncoat’s Self-Titled EP here.

About Turncoat:

turncoat_2017_promo_picture

Since their debut in late 2014, Turncoat has worked hard to make a name all their own. Taking influence from ‘80s hardcore punk with a mix of thrash, Turncoat has set a pace of searing guitar style, pounding drums, and unforgettable vocals. All the while remaining true to the solid foundation that hardcore was built upon. Bringing to light personal and everyday struggles in a way that is impossible to ignore.

Following the release of their debut single “Growing Up,” Turncoat has wasted no time hitting the road. Touring most of the United States in their first year. With no peak to their potential, Turncoat has been relentlessly pushing to reach every corner of the hardcore community. Telling it like it is to anyone who will listen. As the band prepares to release their Self-Titled EP, they continue to remain on the road hitting new grounds and tearing down barriers.

Hood, Oregon.

For those of you who will be attending this month can look forward to a special world premiere screening of Stephanie from Akiva Goldsma, which has been selected as the opening night film for the festival.

In the not too distant future, after a global crisis, Stephanie is left alone in her remote home, while a dark supernatural force looms in the background. When her mother and father return to claim her, the malevolent power spins out of control with Stephanie at the center.

Stephanie was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski and stars Frank Grillo (Blumhouse’s The Purge franchise), Anna Torv (Fringe), and Shree Crooks (American Horror Story, Captain Fantastic).

The film reunites two forces behind the Paranormal Activity franchise – executive producer Goldsman and Blumhouse. Following the screening of Stephanie, Goldsman and Jason Blum will participate in a Q and A and unveil and then screen their favorite Paranormal Activity film.

The Overlook Film Festival runs from April 24 – 30, 2017. Visit the official website for much more details.

[PICS] The Monster Squad Vinyl Motion Picture Soundtrack From Mondo https://www.yellmagazine.com/monster-squad-motion-picture-soundtrack/117448/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/monster-squad-motion-picture-soundtrack/117448/#respond Wed, 19 Apr 2017 13:16:26 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=117448 Horror hounds who are eager to pick up a killer soundtrack this weekend during Record Store Day should look forward to this one. A vinyl soundtrack which will definitely bring back nostalgic memories of good old school days.

Mondo is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Bruce Broughton’s score to Fred Dekker directed / Shane Black scripted cult classic, The Monster Squad. It’s a special treat that will feature the original motion picture soundtrack packaged within new exclusive artwork done by James Flames (pictured below).

Bruce Broughton’s score brings a chilling center to this otherwise kid-friendly endeavor. Bringing to life a story of kids versus universally-beloved monsters in a modern era is no small task, but Broughton captures the adventure and spirit of childhood, crafting an iconic score that bridges the gap between two seemingly disparate genres.

The vinyl has been cut at 45RPM for best possible sound quality and pressed on 180 Gram Black Vinyl. According to Mondo, only 1000 will be available worldwide.

Stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for much more daily news.

Why SuicideGirls? They say it best: “SuicideGirls is a community that celebrates Alternative Beauty and alternative culture from all over the world.” Hey, we’re into that subculture thing too.
