This comes after taking time away from the sport after breaking his leg during the trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last July. Now, especially in recent months, The Mac hasn’t just been producing and then deleting odd Tweets, instead announcing that he’s back in light training ahead of a potential return to the UFC in 2022.

Whether you love or hate the man, there is no doubting that Conor McGregor is a fascinating character and a rare breed. The Irishman is, without a doubt, the undisputed box office king in MMA, with worldwide audiences following his every move and most fighters hoping to be matched up alongside him in the hope of earning a lucrative fight deal. McGregor currently holds eight of the 10 most-bought UFC pay-per-views ever, which tells you all you need to know about his ability to captivate audiences. Despite taking time away from the sport, the UFC still needs its main man.

Whether or not the Dublin-born fighter is capable of rediscovering some of the best moments from his peak years remains to be seen, but he undoubtedly poses a serious threat to whoever he faces in his comeback fight. After all, striking wins fights, as pointed out in Jeff Fox’s betting piece on how to pick a live underdog, and McGregor certainly possesses the tools to strike his way to victory, given his solid boxing skills. But who could he face in 2022 for one of the most highly anticipated comebacks the UFC has seen? Let’s take a look at a few potential candidates below.

Dustin Poirier

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Conor McGregor couldn’t resist reacting to Dustin Poirier’s title fight defeat by Charles Oliveira at UFC 269, which has sparked fresh rumours that the pair could potentially meet in the Octagon once again. Whether or not Dustin Poirier has the appetite for the fight is unclear, especially with rumours circulating around his potential retirement, but fans would surely love to see the pair go at it in what would be a highly lucrative fourth meeting between the two.

Tony Ferguson

When looking at some of the current options, Tony Ferguson is surely one of the most appealing fighters that Conor McGregor could take on. They’ve both recorded great success at 155lbs, but by the same token, they’re also in desperate need of a big comeback, with Ferguson losing three fights in a row and McGregor’s troubles obviously being well documented. It could certainly make for an interesting one.

Michael Chandler

A former three-time Bellator lightweight champion, Michael Chandler is a name that has continually been mentioned in the same breath as Conor McGregor in recent times. A strong contender to face Conor in his return fight, Chandler and the Irishman have clashed on social media of late and clearly don’t see eye to eye.

Nate Diaz

Even the most casual of UFC fans know that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz’s hatred runs deep. The Irishman has always said that a potential trilogy clash is always on the cards but whether or not both men truly want the fight is far from certain, especially as it could potentially spell the end for whoever loses the meeting. Going by recent images, The Notorious has bulked up a great deal during his time away from the sport also, therefore meaning that he’d have to trim down a fair bit to make the fight a realistic prospect.

Charles Oliveira

The man who recently saw off Dustin Poirier is one of the most feared fighters in the UFC and the current lightweight champion, therefore representing the sternest of tests for McGregor should he take the fight, but stranger things have happened. Dana White would surely want to make the fight happen, too, you’d think.

Other potential opponents for Conor McGregor include Justin Gaethje, Rafael dos Anjos, Max Holloway, Islam Makhachev, and Kamaru Usman.

Kevin Lee Disappointed Khabib Nurmagomedov “Never Really Fought a Great Wrestler” /2021/09/12/kevin-lee-disappointed-khabib-nurmagomedov-never-really-fought-a-great-wrestler/ /2021/09/12/kevin-lee-disappointed-khabib-nurmagomedov-never-really-fought-a-great-wrestler/#respond Mon, 13 Sep 2021 01:15:00 +0000 /?p=125234 One of UFC’s most colorful stars is planning a new beginning, but Kevin Lee can’t quite keep his mind of a lightweight who got away from his wrestling skills. Khabib Nurmagomedov retired last October as the Kingpin of the 155-pound division with an impeccable 29-0 record never faced the “The Motown Phenom”, which is currently irritating him.

“I’m a f*cking bug, I’m a f*cking bug, once I got my eyes on you, I’m on you” – Lee said this Monday.

Lee, 28, recently appeared on The MMA Hour to talk about his move to welterweight and his upcoming scrap with Daniel Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Vegas 35, which takes place this Saturday. For the best betting tips make sure to check out Oddschangers MMA bets.

In addition, Lee expressed that he faced many great fighters at 155-pounds, but the Russian dodged him the past.

According to fans and the media, Nurmagomedov is labeled as one of the greatest fighters of all-time, but Lee doesn’t buy that statement at all. In fact, if “The Eagle” ever competes again, Lee will campaign to fight him in a heartbeat since he believes his wrestling skills are unprecedented.

“Nothing that happens can deter it,” Lee said. “That’s just a guy I want to test myself against and yeah, he’s a great champion and all that, but people even now are starting to see that he didn’t really have the challenges that he should have had to really be an all-time great. He never really fought a great wrestler and that was something that I was seeing the whole time coming up.”

“I feel like now you’re starting to see now that he’s getting a little more vocal and people are sitting back and really looking at the whole career, they’re really seeing it for what it is and not just all this hype and all these Russian bots that kind of get behind him.”

Despite facing many great fighters in his division, Lee can’t help but wonder how his UFC career would have been different if he faced Nurmagomedov.

“It is a little disappointing that fight never happened with me and Khabib if he doesn’t come back, but I see the man’s out there playing soccer, so who knows maybe I might pick up a soccer ball or something and kick something around and we can have a little one-on-one match one of these days. Who knows?”

5 Best Known Tips of Winning on MMA Gambling /2021/01/19/5-best-known-tips-of-winning-on-mma-gambling/ /2021/01/19/5-best-known-tips-of-winning-on-mma-gambling/#respond Tue, 19 Jan 2021 14:22:42 +0000 /?p=125191 Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a combat sport that allows punches, knees, elbows, and grappling, inviting several different fighting styles and strategies. MMA gambling has become popular nowadays; being a relatively new sport presents many new opportunities to make very nice profits. However, the game is different from many other sports; hence to succeed, you need a systematic approach when making predictions. It is not easy to keep up with everything to make smart bets most of the time because many organizations have so many different fighters. The following tricks will be of assistance when it comes to MMA betting.

  1. Avoid Betting on Every Fight

The main downfall of many bettors is gambling on far too many fights. It is practically impossible to do adequate research on every fight to get the best chance of a winning bet. Therefore, you should only bet on the battles you have had proper time to research and have a strong prediction on. You have only had little time to do enough research for the fights, place a small wager to be safe, and keep yourself entertained.

  1. Do Line Shopping

Various sportsbooks available on the internet contain different odds on fights. Before betting on MMA, shop around on multiple sportsbooks as early as possible. That is because, once the public spots and jumps on a significantly undervalued fighter, money starts pouring on that fighter immediately, which will result in the sportsbook adjusting the odds; to encourage betting on other fighters. To be on the safe side, bookmark your favorite sportsbooks daily, and keep track of the major MMA promotions’ significant events to know what is coming up and when. Afterward, you will be able to accurately predict when the odds for upcoming fights will be posted.

  1. Always Look for Live Dogs

A live dog refers to an undervalued underdog. Because it is hard for bookies to develop a reliable model for predicting fight outcomes, MMA is full of underdogs. At situs slot, these undervalued fighters have more value than favorites giving you a higher winning chance.

  1. Get to Know the Fighters

Before you start gambling, know about the fighters and analyze the match. That you do by looking at the round betting props and the method of victory. Once you understand the fighters and the sports well enough, you might have a good idea of how a fight will end.

  1. Avoid Betting on Overhyped Fighters

People love to bet on their favorite fighters. However, these heavy favorites often lack value. As a result, the money that comes in moves the odds making them completely unrealistic. These fighters’ odds tend to get shorter because most people want to back the winner, even though the payout will be minuscule. Remember, all is required is a big punch by an underdog to send your bankroll down. These overhyped fighters are usually in main events or high up on the main card.

Compared to many other sports, betting on Mixed Martial Arts is fresh and new. As a result, it affords unique opportunities to attract potential bettors. When you consider the above strategies and put them into practice, you will be ready to make your MMA sports bets winning at situs slot.

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 /2021/01/18/conor-mcgregor-vs-dustin-poirier-2/ /2021/01/18/conor-mcgregor-vs-dustin-poirier-2/#respond Mon, 18 Jan 2021 20:22:31 +0000 /?p=125189 Eagerly awaited rematch tops the bill at UFC 257

Seven years after their first meeting, old foes McGregor and Poirier are set for a rematch this year at UFC 257. Irish superstar Conor McGregor’s last meeting with “The Diamond” took place in 2014 at featherweight class, whereas their new fight will be a lightweight contest. Poirier has established himself as a dangerous competitor at this weight class recently, delivering some stunning victories against fighters such as Dan Hooker, Max Holloway and Eddie Alvarez.

Although Poirier has emerged the victor in 11 of his last 13 fights, his last fight against “The Notorious” resulted in a humiliating defeat. The fight lasted just one minute and 46 seconds before referee Herb Dean was forced to intervene as McGregor pummeled Poirier with a devastating volley of punches and hammer fists.

After their last meeting it may seem tempting to place a large bet on McGregor to win, but could Poirier surprise us all with a stunning upset by beating Conor McGregor? The bookmakers certainly don’t think so, with odds of -305 for Conor and +240 for Dustin at Unibet Indiana, a legal gambling operator which offers many UFC fighting bets and great promotions for the new players. It’s clear that most people expect this to be an easy win for McGregor, but Dustin has massively improved his style and technique over the past seven years, and could now have the ability to win this fight if he gives it everything he’s got.

A stunning upset?

If Poirier did emerge victorious in this fight, it would certainly be a massive upset. Many people believe that this match up has been scheduled for no reason other than to give the Irishman an easy victory, just as they did last year when Conor fought with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. McGregor had suffered a submission defeat by Khabib Nurmagomedov in his previous match, and was still reeling from accusations of criminal behaviour which severely damaged his image. We all know that Conor McGregor is something of a favourite with the higher-ups at the UFC, so it makes sense that they might do their best to hand him an easy victory.

And whilst those people may have been right regarding the fight between McGregor and Cerrone – McGregor defeated his opponent in just 40 seconds – things are very different this time against Poirier. No matter what anyone says, this rematch definitely represents a genuine challenge to Conor, and there’s absolutely no guarantee that this fight will be an easy victory.

Dustin Poirier

In the years since his knockout defeat by McGregor in 2014, Poirier has gather himself together, dusted himself off, and moved up to the lightweight division before delivering a four-win streak against difficult opponents. After a period of difficulty including a KO loss to Michael Johnson and a questionable devision win over Jim Miller, Poirier once again defied his critics by fighting well and adding another four-win streak to his record.

We’ve seen Poirier deliver a submission win against a former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis, along with a knockout victory over World Series of Fighting lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje. Dustin followed up these fights with a second knockout against Alvarez in a rematch staged as the result of an unfortunate no contest.

These fights set him up for an interim lightweight championship bout against Max Holloway, where he again emerged as the victor of an exciting fight which was widely praised as a candidate for Fight of the Year. Poirier has proved himself to be one of the best pure boxers in the UFC at this point – a completely different fighter to who he was seven years ago.

A Shared Nightmare?

So will Poiriers improved skills be enough for him to score a win against Conor McGregor? The last time they fought, both of these men were young featherweights whereas today they are both well established lightweights. Some might say these two men are the best lightweights on the planet, but lets not forget that both of them have suffered defeats by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the past couple of years. Khabib has now retired, which could well be a relief for both Poirier and McGregor!

We haven’t seen McGregor fight very often recently, so it’s going to be extremely exciting to see him an action again at UFC  257 – we can’t wait to see what this fight has in store.

Trevin Jones Gets UFC On ESPN 15 Win Overturned After Positive Marijuana Test /2020/10/10/trevin-jones-gets-ufc-on-espn-15-win-overturned-after-positive-marijuana-test/ /2020/10/10/trevin-jones-gets-ufc-on-espn-15-win-overturned-after-positive-marijuana-test/#respond Sat, 10 Oct 2020 13:57:00 +0000 /?p=125139 Trevin Jones’s UFC on ESPN 15 debut victory has been overturned following a positive marijuana test, per mmafigting.com. The MMA bantamweight orchestrated a sensational comeback to beat Timur Valiev on August 22 but his impressive win will, unfortunately, be wiped off the record books.

Jones was stripped of the victory after the Nevada Athletic Commission voted to overturn the fight’s result to a no-contest after the 30-year-old was found to have used marijuana. He was also hit with a 4.5-month suspension and a fine of $1,945.36; he will be required to submit three clean drug tests at various intervals before he is issued a new fighting license.

Jones accepted his fight on two days’ notice and was met with a barrage of punches at the UFC Apex in the first round of the contest, but he came back strong in the second round to land a right hook that ended Valiev then and there.

There will be plenty of MMA action this coming weekend, with UFC Fight Night set for Saturday. Of course, bettors will get the opportunity to rake in some cash and, if you’re looking to get your first betting spell off the ground, be sure to take advantage of free bets from the bookmakers.

Most of the biggest bookies offer free bets to new customers and, if you grab what’s presented, stakes are covered by free bet tokens. Tokens are usually non-withdrawable and are unlikely to be included in winnings, however.

Saturday night’s action will see Mads Burnell go up against Darko Banovic, with the fighters 2/13 and 19/4 respectively. Michael Page is 2/5 for a win over the 3/1 Ross Houston while Emmanuel Dawa heads into his fight with the 1/2 Oliver Enkamp as the 37/19 underdog.

Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen will feature on the main card in a bantamweight fight; Moraes is 6/5 with the bookies and Sandhagen’s name has been attached to odds of 13/17. In featherweight competition, 2/5 favorite Edson Barboza will go head-to-head with Makwan Amirkhani, who’s at 9/4.

The heavyweight main event will showcase Ben Rothwell and Marcin Tybura. Bettors can get 4/6 odds on Rothwell and 6/4 odds on Tybura.

Jones is only one of the latest fighters to incur punishment for marijuana use. Jamahal Hill, Tim Elliott and Luis Pena were all penalized last month and, although Eliott and Pena took fights on short notice and informed the commission they’d stop using as soon as they were presented the fights, the amounts left in their system exceeded the 150 ng/ml allowable threshold.

Commission meetings have seen commissioners express concerns over the difficulty of fining and suspending fighters for a substance that is legal in the state of Nevada but they’re yet to amend laws pertaining to marijuana use despite the medicinal benefits and the fact that it’s now widely recognized as not being harmful.

There’s also been concern over athletes being forced to take more dangerous substances, with opioids, Xanax and Ambien all allowed.

UFC Betting: Follow the Odds and Market Availability when Betting on MMA /2020/09/19/ufc-betting-follow-the-odds-and-market-availability-when-betting-on-mma/ /2020/09/19/ufc-betting-follow-the-odds-and-market-availability-when-betting-on-mma/#respond Sat, 19 Sep 2020 13:24:33 +0000 /?p=125135 One of the benefits of the continued growth in popularity of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) is that the sport has gained increasingly extensive coverage among online bookmakers.

There’s now a range of markets for punters to select from on all the major fights. This weekend is a case in point, with UFC Fight Night featuring a welterweight bout between Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley as the Main event.

Every bookmaker worthy of the name is covering the event but, as with any sporting event, that doesn’t mean that they all cover it equally. A few bookies will only provide very basic coverage of the fight, offering odds on the result and perhaps one or two other markets.

However, others provide far more depth and it makes choosing the right bookmaker a major factor for MMA punters. Let’s take a look at a couple of the established big names in MMA betting with a comparison of Paddy Power Vs bet365, both of whom provide extensive coverage of the fight game.

Let’s take a look at the market coverage of the two online betting giants…

Fight Result

In terms of the Fight Result, both bookies offer former interim champion Covington as the 2/7 favourite, with former UFC Welterweight Champion Woodley available at 5/2 with Paddy Power and a slightly more attractive 11/4 with bet365.

If Woodley’s your man, then you would certainly want to be backing him at bet365 rather than Paddy Power. In the unlikely event of the fight ending as a draw, this can be backed at 50/1 with Paddy Power or 80/1 with bet365.

Method of Victory

There’s a variation in the ‘Method of Victory’ market between the bookies here, because whereas bet365 offer odds on each fighter to win by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission as a single market option, Paddy Power breaks them down into a separate markets to win by KO/TKO and another to win by Submission. Perhaps surprisingly, Paddy Power offers no DQ option.

An example of the available odds, bet365 go 10/3 on Covington to Win by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission, while Paddy Power are 5/1 on Covington to prevail by KO/TKO or 13/1 by Submission.

Fight to go the Distance

Will the fight go the full five rounds as scheduled? Neither bookie deems that to be likely, with Paddy Power offering No at 11/8 and Yes at 8/15. Bet365  have No at 6/4 and Yes at 1/2.

Round Betting

How many rounds will the fight go?

  • 1 – 6/1 Paddy Power; 7/1 bet365
  • 2 – 15/2 Paddy Power; 8/1 bet365
  • 3 – 17/2 Paddy Power; 10/1 bet365
  • 4 – 10/1 Paddy Power; 12/1 bet365
  • 5 – 14/1 Paddy Power; 16/1 bet365

This is by no means a comprehensive guide to MMA betting (and there are of course many other bookmakers available), but it does show that you need to do your research prior to betting in order to ensure you get the best odds and the markets you want.

Glover Teixeira vs. Thiago Santos Postponed Indefinitely After Both Men Test Positive With COVID-19 /2020/09/17/glover-teixeira-vs-thiago-santos-postponed-indefinitely-after-both-men-test-positive-with-covid-19/ /2020/09/17/glover-teixeira-vs-thiago-santos-postponed-indefinitely-after-both-men-test-positive-with-covid-19/#respond Thu, 17 Sep 2020 22:12:59 +0000 /?p=125132 What should have been an October MMA face-off between Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos has been placed on indefinite hold as both UFC contestants have tested positive for COVID-19.

The fight was originally penciled in to headline UFC Vegas 10 on September 12 but was pushed back after Teixeira tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the week leading up to the event. UFC officials planned to move the duel to the UFC ESPN 16 card set for October 4 on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi – Holly Holm and Irene Aldana are poised to headline that one in a women’s bantamweight fight.

Santos has since tested positive for the respiratory disease, leaving the fight postponed indefinitely. UFC president Dana White confirmed as much after Tuesday night’s Dana White’s contender Series.

“Yeah, yeah, the fight is out,” the president confirmed after being asked if the reports over Santos contracting COVID-19 were true. “I don’t know what we’re gonna do yet. We haven’t really got there yet.”

While this contest hangs in the balance, there’s still a lot of MMA to bet on, with Gentingbet offering a number of odds on upcoming fights. New signups can take advantage of various perks such as Gentingbet’s welcome offer. Now, the bookmakers are offering £25 to new users. It will take a small deposit to trigger the offer, though.

As it pertains to the postponed fight, UFC should move to reschedule it once both Teixeira and Santos test negative and are cleared to step into the octagon again.

This news comes after the Iranian government executed 27-year-old Greco-Roman wrestling champion Navid Afkari on Saturday, despite both White and U.S President Donald Trump urging officials to spare his life. Afkari was accused of murdering a security guard during protests in 2018. The deceased’s family and attorneys claim Afkari was protesting peacefully, adding he only confessed to the murder after being tortured.

While Afkari wasn’t associated with UFC, the development appeared to weigh heavily on the UFC president, who pleaded with the Iranian government in a video and had Trump plead on his behalf as well.

As mentioned above, there’s still plenty of action to be had on the punting front with Gentingbet. The bookies are offering several odds on UFC fights set for this weekend. As things stand, Tyson Nam is 1/2 to beat Jerome Rivera at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, with the latter at 6/4.

Darrick Minner and TJ Laramie are also poised to go head-to-head on said date and are 12/5 and 3/10 respectively with Gentingbet, who are also offering odds of 4/9 on Andre Ewell vs the 17/10 Irwin Rivera.

The main card will see Khamzat Chimaev take on Gerald Meerschaert in a middleweight bout; the bookmakers handing out odds of 2/9 and 3/1 respectively. Donald Cerone’s 5/4 to beat the 8/13 Niko Price in Welterweight competition as co-mains. The main card throws up Colby Covington, who is 2/7 to beat Tyrone Woodley, who’s at 13/5.

Understanding MMA – Ultimate Strategy Guide /2020/08/29/understanding-mma-ultimate-strategy-guide/ /2020/08/29/understanding-mma-ultimate-strategy-guide/#respond Sat, 29 Aug 2020 14:06:23 +0000 /?p=125120 Boxing is a combat sport that entails two people punching each other in a confined boxing ring. Although it is viewed as a brutal, barbaric sport by many, this sport has been there for ages and loved by many. Fist fighting as a form of entertainment dates back to 688 BC Ancient Greece, where boxing was an Olympic game.

During the Roman gladiator period, boxing was so brutal that it got banned in various parts of the world. This is because the participants would fight each other to the death. However, throughout the 17th to the 19th centuries, the sport grew and was now motivated by money, as the fighters would strive to win the various prizes.

More rules were added to the game, controlled by a referee, and sports betting became even more popular. Ringside spectator seats became highly-priced with many people trying to get a glimpse of the action as it unfolds while people flocked pubs, restaurants, or at home to watch the matches on pay-per-view formats.

The rise in popularity of the MMA and UFC has come at the expense of boxing. These two forms of boxing have risen, becoming the most-watched matches in the world, with more investors and global supporters.

The mixed martial arts sport has grown in popularity over the years, and the numbers are clearly shown in the statistics. For instance, the numbers have exponentially grown from only 86k pay-per-view (PPV) people in UFC 1 in 1993 to 2.4 m PPV in UFC 229.

With this popularity comes a great opportunity for the spectators and fans to get rewarded betting. These days, technology has made everything easier, meaning that you don’t necessarily have to watch the match on television or even physically for you to bet on it. There are various sites where you can place your stakes, including the joker123 website, to bet on these games and get good rewards.

To help you get started, here is a complete guide to help you to understand the game better, and how you can improve your chances of winning when betting on it.

Rules of the cage

Unlike traditional boxing, MMA is a well-rounded combat sport and combines punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and grappling. In essence, two fighters get in the bout, and only one of them comes out victorious unless there is a draw.

At the cage side, there are three judges who judge the players based on a 10-point scoring system, with the one garnering 10 points emerging the winner. If the match ends in a (10-9) round, it means the one that lost did so by a close margin.

A (10-8) round implies that the winning contestant overwhelmed the other with a mix of strikes. Sometimes, on rare occasions, a match would end in a (10-10) score, which means a draw.

There are many things that judges consider before offering judgment. They have to consider factors such as effective striking, aggressiveness, defense, grappling, and dominance. Striking is more technical as there are only a certain number of permitted strikes. The judges will also consider the number of illegal strikes landed, based on the referee’s opinion.

Knowing your player

Knowing your fighter is the best tip anyone can ever take full advantage of if they want to succeed in MMA betting. Most players come from a specific area that they mostly excel at. For instance, a player like Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson has a kickboxing and karate background. He is more likely to dominate his opponents by decision or TKO.

Another fan-favorite is Demian Maia, who comes from a Brazilian JiuJitsu background. Knowing what your players are capable of gives you an upper hand in deciding on how to bet on them.

The secret is to find consistent players who have a continued winning streak, while also determining how they win. Moreover, these players should have had enough time to heal before their next big fight.

Every little bit of knowledge is important, and you can also keep up to date by following up in Slot Joker123 on the upcoming MMA events, listening to related podcasts, all to get comfortable with the MMA scene.

Be sure to keep a lookout for some of the websites with regularly updated MMA fixtures and stakes. While trying to make money betting on MMA, you can also visit sites and win extra money while at it.
