Usually, celebrities maintain a certain distance from their social media pages. They’ll tweet or post things, but when it comes to actually responding to people, they shy away from it. This goes double for responding to assholes, the group that makes up at least half of every celebrity’s fan base. And why should they respond? First of all, they have better things to do, and secondly, the only real way that you can respond to “u fukin suck” is with a variation of “no, U suck!”

I don’t know if Rob Zombie runs his own Facebook page, but if it is him (And I hope it is. I value the mental image of Zombie’s dreadlocks falling on either side of the keyboard as he says aloud, “Oh, for Christ’s sake. Really?” way too much for it not to be him.), he is fed up with people making the most inane comments on the things he posts, and is willing to let his emotions be known in the most public space in the universe: Facebook. For example:

No.7 People who hate things

Here, Rob confronts the most widely seen form of Internet hatred: people who hate things, yet can’t help from participating in those things. I don’t know when a majority of the Iinternet decided “We should do the things that make us most unhappy!” but this guy has taken it upon himself to visit the Facebook page and declare Rob Zombie a “talentless douchebag,” which is like going to a Burger King solely to insult the employees about the food.

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.6 Best Buy???

There are about three places in the entire world left to buy physical media, and two of those places are used DVD stands in a Prestonsburg, Kentucky, flea market. This guy is insulted that rocker Rob Zombie would ever lower himself enough to visit corporate America’s shining bastion of technological wizardry, BEST BUY. I honestly don’t know what he expected. Is BEST BUY not dirty or grungy enough for Rob Zombie to sell his merchandise at? Does he wake up in cold sweats every night because Rob Zombie opens his wallet and rats don’t fall out?

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.5 Don’t buy things you already have!

Here, a man attempts to save the world from musicians by telling people, “Don’t buy things you already have!” It’s a genius, revolutionary tactic, an option that has never been explored before. For years, every time a CD from a band came out, people bought it without question, even if it had songs from earlier CDs on it. Why? People are cattle with brains that can’t handle logical reasoning. People have never flipped a CD over to read the track list on the back of it. Not even once. As we speak, a man is being crushed to death by all of his Michael Jackson CDs, compilations and tribute albums. And with his last breath, he’ll say, “Why didn’t I listen to Greg on Rob Zombie’s Facebook page….?”

Rob responds accordingly.

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.4 Shitting Yourself

I know that “shitting yourself” is the way that most people describe their high level of excitement nowadays, because nothing says anticipation like some pants full of poo. But I’d like to thank Rob for being pragmatic here, and seeing the real life ramifications of shitting yourself over an It remake. “And Pennywise is going to be played by David Tennant?!? I just can’t hold it in! PFFFBBBBBBBBTTTTTT (splat).”

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.3 It’s not like the old stuff

I know what Arron was going for here, but it’s bad to approach Zombie with anything close to the “It’s not like the old stuff” argument after his experience with the critics of Halloween, where many hoped that he would simply deliver a shot for shot remake of the classic. Better luck next time.

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.2 Metal vs. “Pop Rock Bullshit”

As all metal fans know, the most metal thing you can do is complain about something not being metal enough. Even though I’ve never really classified Zombie’s music as “metal,” more like “screaming Frankenstein monster being slowly crushed by a flaming Sheri Moon Zombie-shaped Munsters car” music.

Rob Zombie Facebook

No.1 Sucking Balls

And finally, my favorite response, in which Rob Zombie goes with the most effective, albeit the most juvenile, response. You talk about something sucking balls? You must suck balls. It’s not classy, but whatever. It’s Rob Zombie. If I wanted class, I’d go to Eli Roth’s Twitter.

Doors & Fours Embrace The Zombies In Video For “Feeling Dead” /2018/12/31/doors-fours-embrace-zombies-video-feeling-dead/ /2018/12/31/doors-fours-embrace-zombies-video-feeling-dead/#respond Mon, 31 Dec 2018 04:48:45 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=124461 Doors_Fours

Hamilton, Ontario’s heavy rock outfit, Doors & Fours is releasing a new album, Black Magik & Other Aphrodisiacs, on all major music platforms on February 1, 2019. The independently produced album is a mash-up of raw heavy rock, with a very “go fuck yourself” punk attitude.

The first single off the second full-length album is “Feeling Dead,” a rowdy, hard-hitting track with catchy hooks and a horrifically voracious music video. In all honesty, the track might be 30 seconds to a minute too long. This single shows the talent of the Ontarian band that openly shuns overproduction and various electronic elements that are becoming standard in the heavy genres. Check the track out for yourself on this page.

The band plans to tour with their loud, brash rock through Canada extensively over the next year in support of this fiery album. Comprised of four legs to ensure reaching as many listeners as possible, the first leg of the tour from March 23rd to April 27th, 2019, includes the eastern part of the country. More tour dates to be announced!

Doors & Fours Spring Tour Dates:

March 23 – Niagara Falls, ON – Willy John’s
March 28 – Toronto, ON – Bovine
March 29 – Waterloo, ON – Harmony Lunch
March 30 – Hamilton, ON – Club Absinthe
April 5 – London, ON – Old East 765
April 6 – Windsor, ON – Phog Lounge
April 12 – Barrie, ON – Foxx Lounge
April 13 – Ajax, ON – Rottilicious

Lords Of The Trident Release Music Video On SEGA /2018/12/29/lords-trident-release-music-video-sega/ /2018/12/29/lords-trident-release-music-video-sega/#respond Sat, 29 Dec 2018 16:56:15 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=124454 lords-of-the-trident-sega-playthrough

Currently, it’s trendy for many indie and underground bands to release their music on dead media like cassettes (and I actually saw cassette players on new devices while Christmas shopping this year), but Lords of the Trident has taken it one step further. Their latest video for the song “Chasing Shadows” off of their latest album, Shadows From the Past, is being released exclusively as a game that actually works on the SEGA CD console.

The video game console, popular from 1991 to 1996 has been out of production for nearly 20 years, but that doesn’t stop vocalist Fang VonWrathenstein from collecting Sega CD games and memorabilia. As luck would have it, one of the producers from Digital Pictures — a company responsible for the production of a number of Full Motion Video (FMV) games — is a huge fan of Lords of the Trident. After numerous talks, he was able to recruit some of his former Digital Pictures colleagues and the idea to craft the game was set in motion.

The band and the crew worked in secret for numerous months to create a “Make My Music Video” game for the system. These types of games were also created for Kris Kross, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and INXS. Much of the backbone for previous Digital Pictures games (such as the controversial hit “Night Trap”) was used to create the game.

Said executive producer Tom Zito:

The real trick was making the console display widescreen. The old games were used to a smaller, non-widescreen display, so a lot of that had to be written from the ground up.

To add to its exclusivity, only five official copies were ever created, and the music video can only be seen by playing the game, or by watching various playthroughs online. One copy of the game went to Pennsylvania-based YouTube gaming channel Halberd, run by the power metal vocalist Lee Prisby of the band Klaymore (and his video game channel Halberd). Another went to Ryan Schremp, a personal friend of the band and owner of the popular blog Topless Robot. A third copy made its way to long-time friends of the band, Guys Games and Beer.

The Lords of the Trident have also posted their own playthrough video, demonstrating the game achieving a perfect 100% score. On the SEGA CD version there are a number of different levels of playthroughs available that correspond to other previously published Lords of the Trident music videos, but as of yet, no channels have posted them.

Says vocalist Fang VonWrathenstein:

It’s a dream come true for us (me, specifically) to have our very own Sega CD game. I’d like to thank Tom Zito and the rest of the guys at Digital Pictures for pursuing this crazy idea of ours. I can tell you I’ve already played the crap out of this game, and although we can’t make more copies for wider release, at the very least you can watch our 100%ed playthrough online!

Thrashers Hellnite Possess You With “Phantom Force”; Debut Album Out February /2018/12/28/thrashers-hellnite-possess-phantom-force-debut-album-february/ /2018/12/28/thrashers-hellnite-possess-phantom-force-debut-album-february/#respond Fri, 28 Dec 2018 04:26:25 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=124448 hellnite-2018-promo-picture

Canadian thrash metal outfit, Hellnite, released their second single, “Phantom Force,” from their forthcoming debut full-length, Midnight Terrors. The album will be released on February 12, 2019, through Sliptrick Records. Have a listen to the track on Spotify.

Vocalist/guitarist Paolo Belmar explained the meaning behind “Phantom Force”:

‘Phantom Force’ is basically about the fear of being possessed by that dark spirit. It represents that fight between you, your body, and the spirit trying to possess it, the outro of the song is trying to achieve a progressive sound to complement that sentiment.

Formed originally in Mexico City in 2010, and now re-established in Edmonton, Canada, by founding member, vocalist, and guitarist Paolo Belmar, Hellnite’s debut album was written and recorded by Belmar who is now joined with a live line-up consisting of bassist Konnor Miskiman and drummer Ryan Payne.

The full-length is lyrically a paranormal and sci-fi-themed concept album with influences from classic heroes such as Kreator, Slayer, Death, along with next-generation thrash and heavy metal influences such as Havok and Skull Fist.

Belmar added:

It’s basically an open door to the next stage of this project that I began in Mexico. I have been working on ‘Midnight Terrors’ since 2014 and I think it will be well-received from people who are into oldies and classic metal. I want to provoke curiosity with this album; my purpose is to catch people’s attention so they can follow the next movements of the band, which are going to be a little bit twisted in comparison with ‘Midnight Terrors’ and can’t wait to share the next release after this one.

Hellnite’s first single and album title track can be heard in the player on this page.

Hellnite Midnight Terrors Track Listing:

1. Projection (1:08)
2. Phantom Force (5:50)
3. Spirits Prevail (4:22)
4. Beasts From The Deep (4:56)

6. Darker Than Black (5:59)
7. Stage On Fire (5:18)

Mark Deutrom, Former Melvins Bassist, To Release New Solo Album January 2019 /2018/12/25/mark-deutrom-melvins-bassist-release-solo-album-january-2019/ /2018/12/25/mark-deutrom-melvins-bassist-release-solo-album-january-2019/#respond Tue, 25 Dec 2018 05:16:04 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=124443 mark-deutrom-2018

Austin, Texas-based multi-instrumentalist, Mark Deutrom (Bellringer, ex-Melvins, Clown Alley), will release his highly anticipated new album, The Blue Bird, on January 4, 2019, through Season of Mist. Several pre-release singles and videos are now streaming, and pre-orders are available.

The first work under the Mark Deutrom name in almost six years, The Blue Bird is a full-album listening experience; it explores melody, space, nuance, and volume as it flows from track-to-track like a prismatic audio storybook. From the classic unconventional heaviness of tracks such as “The Happiness Machine” to the fever dream haziness of the “Somnambulist” through the moody “They Have Won,” Mark Deutrom moves from strength to strength without ever letting his foot off the gas. The Blue Bird is rock grandeur, oozing poise and purpose, and has all the hallmarks to be an abiding piece of heavy rock history.

Through 13 diverse tracks, The Blue Bird delivers over 50 minutes of intoxicating, surreal, and spellbinding rock, with Mark Deutrom performing vocal, guitar, bass, keyboards, and more. Bellringer’s live percussionist, RL Hulsman (Robert Plant, Nashville Pussy, Tarbox Ramblers), handles the drums for the album, with guest drums/percussion and vibraphone on “Hell Is a City” and drums/percussion on “They Have Won” by Aaron Lack, upright bass on “Hell Is a City” and “They Have Won” by G. Pat Harris, and alto saxophone on “They Have Won” by Joe Morales. The album was recorded at Estuary Recording Facility in Austin, produced by Mark Deutrom, engineered by Chico Jones, with mixing and additional engineering by Chad Bamford, and mastering and additional engineering by Bernd Heinrauch. The bandleader’s wife Jennifer Deutrom handled the album’s cover art, photography, and video creation.

Stream The Blue Bird‘s “The Happiness Machine” at Bandcamp https://markdeutrom.bandcamp.com/album/the-blue-bird, see the “Maximum Hemingway” official music video on this page, and stream “Nothing Out There” here .

Set for release on Friday, January 4th, The Blue Bird is being issued on CD, LP, and all digital platforms, with each format featuring a slightly different track listing and arrangement. Season of Mist also recently reissued Mark Deutrom’s back-catalog including The Silent Treatment, The Value of Decay, Brief Sensuality & Western Violence, and Bellringer on all platforms.

Find pre-order options for The Blue Bird and the reissued titles at the Season of Mist webshop https://shopusa.season-of-mist.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=mark+deutrom and through all digital providers.

Following the release of The Blue Bird, Mark Deutrom and the Bellringer live lineup featuring drummer RL Hulsman and bassist Brian Ramirez will tour in support of the album. Watch for live actions to be announced shortly.

The Blue Bird Track Listing:

1. No Space Holds the Weight
2. Futurist Manifesto
3. Radiant Gravity
4. O Ye of Little Faith
5. Our Revels Now are Ended
6. Hell is a City
7. Somnambulist
8. Maximum Hemingway
9. Through the Ringing Cedars
10. They Have Won
11. On Father’s Day

Alborn Release “Full Circle” Video /2018/12/18/alborn-release-full-circle-video/ /2018/12/18/alborn-release-full-circle-video/#respond Wed, 19 Dec 2018 03:09:46 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=124427 alborn-full-circle

I love it when this happens, when I make a snap “this band sounds like” judgment and it gets confirmed in the press release. And that’s just what happened with Alborn and their track “Full Circle.” After about a minute of play time, it was very apparent that this was a band that, either intentionally or not, had captured the sounds of Sevendust and Alice in Chains. The comes the press release, and low and behold, Sevendust producer, Morgan Rose, has produced this Alborn track.

The video was filmed and edited by Freddy D’Angelo and Jordan Hageman.

Alborn commented on the track:

Working with Sevendust’s Morgan Rose and the guys at The Attic has been an absolute honor and great learning experience; everyone had a ton of great input that helped mold ‘Full Circle.’ We’re beyond thrilled with the response that we’ve gotten from the track so far and are anxious to see how far it can take us.

Let us know what you think of the track.
