I cheated though, as you’ll see. I’m not sure about Lick It Up, but I definitely agree with your reasoning for Unplugged, however, I didn’t want to include live albums, which are essentially best ofs (but the acoustic aspect does completely change the songs). Here’s the link to part II https://www.yellmagazine.com/best-kiss-albums-holy-trinity-series-ikonik-kiss-albums-part-ii/42134/

What albums do you think comprise the second holy trinity?
I think they would be:

1. Dynasty – The band returns after their coordinated solo projects were complete to show that they weren’t going ANYWHERE.

2. Lick It Up – The band moves in a new direction by removing their makeup to remain relevant in the music industry…and did just that with the gritty, dirty title track.

3. Unplugged – This was one of the most important albums of their legacy to this point, in my opinion. Having Ace & Peter join the band onstage for a couple of songs was genius. It rekindled fans’ desire to re-live the band’s original lineup for the first time in 15-16 years (?), which then led to sold out tours, a new album from the original four, and a lot of attention being pointed in their direction. Again, a survival move to remain relevant, but if all KISS fans are like me, a welcomed move. And it was successful…

Anyone think differently?

The first three albums are KISS as a unified hungry unit!

I have to admit I had no idea that Nothin’ To Lose was about anal sex, but it makes perfect sense (“I thought about the back door”).
