Brock Lesnar – Yell! Magazine https://www.yellmagazine.com Where Subcultures Collide™ Mon, 03 Jul 2017 19:28:02 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.8 Brock Lesnar’s MMA Career In The UFC Is Far From Over [VIDEO] https://www.yellmagazine.com/brock-lesnars-mma-career-ufc-video/111477/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/brock-lesnars-mma-career-ufc-video/111477/#respond Mon, 22 Aug 2016 13:33:33 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=111477 Brock Lesnar’s return in the Octagon for UFC 200 was an extremely successful one. The former UFC heavyweight champion avenged his loss to diverticulitis and also defeated a top 10 UFC contender, Mark Hunt.

Following his massive win over Hunt last month, speculation was rampant that Lesnar would return to MMA full time. However, that’s not entirely the case anymore. Lesnar stepped back into the WWE and headlined WWE SummerSlam over the weekend.

Ahead of SummerSlam, Lesnar discussed his MMA future with TMZ. According to the WWE superstar, he has a few challenges to overcome first such as his hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NAC) on August 23rd. For those unaware, Lesnar failed an out-of-competition drug test performed by USADA on June 28 as well as an in-competition test taken at UFC 200.

I’ve got a few challenges to overcome before I can get there. I don’t know. For right now, I’m gonna focus on my WWE career. I wanted to step back into the octagon and avenge my loss against diverticulitis. Sunday I’m facing Randy Orton at Summerslam and that’s really all that’s on my mind.

His hearing will most likely determine how long he will be suspended from the sport. But Lesnar reassures his MMA fans that his time with UFC is far from over — and it’s possible he could step in the Octagon once again.

To my fans that watch me in the octagon, I thank them for their support. This has been a bumpy road. I’m gonna get through this alright. And there will be a day, maybe, that they’ll see me back in the octagon.

UFC 200: Brock Lesnar Fails Second Drug Test Conducted By USADA https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-fails-drug-test-conducted-usada/110673/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-fails-drug-test-conducted-usada/110673/#respond Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:56:24 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=110673 There’s bad news for Brock Lesnar again folks! The former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE superstar has officially failed a second drug test conducted by USADA for UFC 200. But this time his in-competition sample from July 9, 2016 tested positive for the exact same banned substance found in his out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016.

At the moment, USADA won’t disclose the substance until Lesnar decides to announce it himself. Lesnar hasn’t publicly addressed the second drug test failure yet.

Since the first failed drug test news broke out, his opponent Mark Hunt has expressed interest in Lesnar’s full purse from UFC 200 or his release from the promotion.

Official UFC Statement

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Brock Lesnar that his in-competition sample collection from July 9, 2016, at UFC 200, has tested positive for the same substance as his previously announced out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The Nevada State Athletic Commission also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed at UFC 200 in Las Vegas.

Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

UFC 200: Brock Lesnar Is Not Returning For The Fans, “I’m Doing This For Me” https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-returning-fans/109890/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-returning-fans/109890/#respond Wed, 15 Jun 2016 23:44:17 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=109890 Many of you already know this, WWE superstar Brock Lesnar is returning to MMA at UFC 200, but I’m sure many of you don’t exactly know why.

In a recent sit down interview with Paul Heyman, his on-air WWE advocate and longtime friend, Lesnar opened up about UFC 200, and why he is returning to MMA.

According to the former UFC heavyweight champion, he is doing this all for himself.

I’m not proving it to anybody else, I’m not doing this for fans. If there are fans that are excited that I’m getting back in the Octagon, great. But I’m not doing it for them. I’m doing this for me. This is for me. If by chance, 2 million people want to tune in for me to enjoy myself on July 9, so be it. That’s great. That’d be really good and I appreciate that, but I’m not gonna change. This is all about me. I’m sorry. This is all about me. And why should it be about anybody else?

Lesnar, 38, will be stepping inside the Octagon in July to face No.8 heavyweight contender Mark Hunt, a New Zealand mixed martial artist who is riding a two-fight UFC winning streak. He recently defeated Antônio Silva and Frank Mir with a legendary ‘walk-off’ KO.

Although, Hunt is massive challenge for any heavyweight, Lesnar doesn’t believe he has anything left to prove in his MMA career.

I don’t think I have anything to prove at all, I’ve been an athlete. I’ve accomplished a lot of great things. A lot of great things. I feel very fortunate that I’m 38 years old, I work for the WWE and I can step foot back into the Octagon again for the UFC. How many people can do that? I’m one in a million. How many people can pull it off? One in a million. And you’re looking at him.

For more on what is left for Lesnar to accomplish, then check out the full video interview with Heyman. UFC 200: Cormier vs. Jones 2 will be held on July 9, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 200: Brock Lesnar To Face Mark Hunt On Main Card https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-face-mark-hunt-main-card/109664/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-face-mark-hunt-main-card/109664/#respond Tue, 07 Jun 2016 18:09:15 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=109664 Earlier this week, it was officially announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return at UFC 200. However, his opponent wasn’t revealed until today.

According to multiple sources, Lesnar’s one-off fight from the WWE will take place on June 9th and he will face top 10 heavyweight contender Mark Hunt on the main fight card of UFC 200.

Lesnar stated it was a simple decision to make, but it has haunted him for the past 15 months.

It’s very simple. Nobody called me. It was nobody else’s idea. Dana didn’t pick up the phone because [they] need to fill a spot. It didn’t happen like that. I picked up the phone. It was me. I don’t even remember [when]. It was three months ago. It’s taken some time for things to play out, but I just said, ‘What are the chances of having Brock Lesnar on the card at UFC 200?’ And we got together, obviously I’m still under contract with WWE.

Lesnar’s last fight inside the Octagon was against Alistair Overeem in December 2011. Overeem would win the fight by way of technical knockout in the first round. Hunt recently came off an impressive win over MMA veteran Frank Mir via KO in the first round, after putting Mir to the canvas with a right hand, and finished with a ‘walk-off’ KO.

Hunt stated he plans to send the “pretender” back to the “play house”, which I assume he meant the WWE.

I’ll knock his face off. I knock his mouth off and then his lips fly off. If he has an itch to scratch I will scratch it for him. I ain’t no part-time fighter. He thinks this is a game where he can come back and forth. I will send this pretender back so he can play house with the other part timers. This realm is for the real fighters, not these damn pretenders. Don’t confuse wrestling with real fighting. I’m going to give it to him.

UFC 200 features a championship bout between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. In addition, Miesha Tate will defend the gold against Amanda Nunes.

UFC 200: Brock Lesnar Confirmed On Main Fight Card https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-confirmed-main-fight-card/109534/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-200-brock-lesnar-confirmed-main-fight-card/109534/#respond Sun, 05 Jun 2016 17:08:58 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=109534 The word is officially out on Brock Lesnar’s return to MMA, which means the UFC is going to have one hell of a good fight card for UFC 200 in July.

Last night during UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Bisping 2, the UFC unleashed a new UFC 200 promo in between the main and co-main event, which featured Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones, including a glance at Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes. Plus, Lesnar appeared at the very end of the clip with his opponent listed as to be determined (TBD).

At the moment, Lesnar opponent isn’t close to being finalized and it is unclear at this time who is under consideration, but the UFC definitely has a few interesting options in the heavyweight division such as Stefan Struve, Mark Hunt, and Derrick Lewis, just to name a few.

If you’re wondering about Lesnar’s commitment to the WWE, well, apparently they approve his MMA return and have granted him a one-off opportunity while under contract.

The WWE released to following statement clarifying the situation with the UFC:

Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200,” the statement read. “Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for Summerslam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.

UFC 200: Cormier vs. Jones 2 will be held on July 9, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Brock Lesnar Re-Signs To The WWE, Officially Closes The Door On MMA [VIDEO] https://www.yellmagazine.com/brock-lesnar-re-signs-wwe-rules-mma-video/97438/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/brock-lesnar-re-signs-wwe-rules-mma-video/97438/#respond Wed, 25 Mar 2015 01:08:11 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=97438 As of today, the UFC’s most lucrative and all-time favorite heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, has officially closed the door on MMA for good. The former UFC star confirmed last night that he re-signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Lesnar is now obligated to defend his WWE heavyweight title against Roman Reigns at the WrestleMania 31 main event on Sunday.

During Lesnar’s interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter, the superstar expressed his thoughts about his final decision to re-sign with WWE, which he said was very hard to make. Lesnar also revealed he has no intention to ever compete in mixed martial arts again:

I’m officially closing the door on the sport of MMA. I signed last night with the WWE. We came to a conclusion last night. The offer on the table I couldn’t refuse. I think it’s fair to the fans, and I want to be fair to the fans to know that on Sunday, I’m going to hold that damn belt. It was public knowledge [that his contract was due and he was considering MMA] and it was out there as to, What is Brock going to do?

So that’s it! Lesnar legacy inside the Octagon is now officially over. How do you feel about that?

After A Big Win Over “Bigfoot” Silva, Frank Mir Is Interested In Brock Lesnar Trilogy https://www.yellmagazine.com/big-win-bigfoot-silva-frank-mir-interested-brock-lesnar-trilogy/96186/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/big-win-bigfoot-silva-frank-mir-interested-brock-lesnar-trilogy/96186/#respond Tue, 24 Feb 2015 00:33:21 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=96186 Frank Mir

At UFC Fight Night 61, Frank Mir (17-9) dropped Antoni “Bigfoot” Silva (18-7-1) with a big left hook and finished the Brazilian heavyweight with a barrage of ground and pound in the very first round. With a solid win like this, Mir just saved his MMA career in the UFC.

Mir winning over “Bigfoot” after a three-year losing skid guaranteed him another fight or two inside the Octagon. In fact, the UFC is probably working on his next fight and Mir is already eyeing his next opponent. During the post-fight presser for UFN 61 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Mir said that he would “absolutely” be interested in another fight with Brock Lesnar, which would be a trilogy since they fought each other at UFC 81 and UFC 100:

I think it would be a huge, big fight. I think it’s something that would catapult my name even higher up. I mean, a rubber match between the two of us would be a phenomenal fight. To keep that anywhere in the works, I had to get a win tonight.

At age 35, Mir believes if he has the same energy and mindset as he did on Sunday night, he could take out anyone on the planet, including the WWE pro-wrestler:

If Brock Lesnar decides to come back, [I would] welcome him back, I don’t think he likes getting punched very much; I’m looking like I’m actually figuring how to punch pretty hard. So whoever they give me. If I come in at 100% and I feel good like I did tonight, I wouldn’t bet on anybody across from me.

Lesnar’s contract with the WWE ends in the spring, if he decides to re-signs with the UFC, then I’m sure Mir will get his rubber match.

Is Bellator Eyeing To Ink A Deal With Brock Lesnar Early Next Year? https://www.yellmagazine.com/bellator-eyeing-contract-brock-lesnar-year/92932/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/bellator-eyeing-contract-brock-lesnar-year/92932/#respond Tue, 02 Dec 2014 02:14:25 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=92932 Brock Lesnar

With Brock Lesnar’s World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) contract expiring very soon, possibly early next year based on reports from the pro wrestling world, rumors of the former UFC heavyweight champion returning to MMA are quickly coming around again. However, if the rumors turn out to be true, Lesnar may now have more lucrative offers outside of the UFC; it appears that Bellator MMA may be interested in signing the 265-pounder in the very near future.

According to Bellator President Scott Coker, his organization is interested in signing a big needle mover like Lesnar, someone who has star power that can bring in great ratings for Bellator on Spike TV. Lesnar is clearly the man for that job based on his past experience in the UFC.

Coker revealed earlier today on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that when the time is right next year, Bellator will pursue Lesnar when he is a free agent:

I would say, look, any fighter that’s out there or any star athlete – not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar – that really wants to fight, we’re going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we’re going to want them on Spike TV.

I think that he’s a big needle mover. There have been several years that have passed and I think that he still has the WWE limelight. So, I think that he still has a lot of star power, but to come back and say, ‘Hey, I want to train, I want to commit, I want to fight’, that’s going to be a big commitment on his part. We haven’t had a conversation yet, but we’d like to at some point.

If Brock Lesnar does decide to compete in MMA again, where would you like to see him fight, in the UFC or Bellator? Drop your thoughts off in the comment section below.
