Cattle Decapitation – Yell! Magazine https://www.yellmagazine.com Where Subcultures Collide™ Tue, 04 Jul 2017 13:51:47 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.8 10 Explicit Music Videos – We’re Out For Blood https://www.yellmagazine.com/10-explicit-music-videos-were-blood/59840/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/10-explicit-music-videos-were-blood/59840/#comments Sat, 28 May 2016 15:16:37 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=59840 First off, when we say explicit music videos, we mean explicit. Many of the videos on this list contain buckets of blood, nudity, depictions of rape and murder, and, yes, even animal cruelty. If you have a problem with any of that, then you better just turn around and go back the way you came.

Second thing, we don’t participate in, condone, or suggest that any of our readers take part in any acts that are violent (don’t murder or rape anyone), that are demeaning or dehumanizing, that are disrespectful, or that are cruel to, well, anything. Basically, don’t do this shit at home.

The way we see it, these explicit music videos are collaborative expressions of the bands and directors making them. Whether the videos are artistic or not is not for us at Yell! Magazine to decide.

We did a similar list before, Top 10 Gory, Disturbing, And F#@%ed Up Music Videos, but those videos, while definitely disturbing, were less shocking than what we’re presenting today. This time out, we sought out some of the goriest explicit music videos in existence. Just like in exploitation films, there’s graphic depictions of disembowelment, rape, satanic ritual, copious amounts of blood, cannibalism, and more.

Again, before we get started with this list of explicit music videos, if you have a weak stomach, are easily offended, or you have a pacemaker, leave now! The horrors on display here are unlike those seen in an Alice Cooper or GWAR show.

No.10 “Chop Chop” – The Panic Beats

Chop Chop by The Panic Beats from Dustin Mills on Vimeo.

Let’s start with something light, at least musically it’s light compared to the other songs on this list. With a pop-punk, Ramones-like sound, The Panic Beats have produced basically a short movie, complete with an exploitation-style title shot. Stalking, tortuous murder, and nudity – it’s a literal bloodbath.

No.9 “(s)AINT” – Marilyn Manson

OK, so putting Marilyn Manson on this list of explicit music videos is either a no-brainer or really stupid. It might not be as violent as other videos here, but explicit sex, graphic drug use, cutting, masturbation, blood, yeah, maybe it’s a no-brainer. This video was also directed by Asia Argento, daughter of horror legend Dario Argento.

No.8 “Worlock” – Skinny Puppy

Yes, you’re still being eased into the real gory videos on this list. I think the electro-industrial influence of Skinny Puppy is evident in many bands that followed, and while the video for “Worlock” may not have been composed of original footage, it was brutally violent for 1990. The video contains a vocal sample of Charles Manson reciting lines from The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter,” and scenes from many horror movies, including Deep Red, Suspiria,Tenebrae, Combat Shock, Phenomena, Opera, The Beyond, Hellraiser II, Bad Taste, Dead & Buried, Luther The Geek, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, From Beyond, Parents, Death Warmed Up, Intruder, and Altered States. “Worlock” was banned worldwide.

No.7 “Mein Herz Brennt” – Rammstein

Rammstein’s “Pussy” is a more explicit music video than “Mein Herz Brennt” (“My Heart Burns”) is, but this video is a visual mind-blower. With a The Cell meets Eyes Wide Shut vibe, this video makes no qualms about exploring, well I’m not entirely sure what it’s exploring. However, there are imprisoned children, some weird surgery, self-cannibalization, and something supernatural.

No.6 “Tarnished Gluttony” – Job for a Cowboy

Yes, this video contains an explicit disembowelment, but the whole scene only takes about two minutes in the nine minute video. What’s most disturbing is the father sacrificing his son.

Vocalist Jonny Davy explains the Michael Panduro-directed video:

“‘Tarnished Gluttony’ originally runs off the idea of blind faith into our government and monetary system. The director ran with the idea and spliced it with a H.P. Lovecraftian twist. The video streams the fascination of religion and the actions people justify in the name of religion, and this video is a spin on the old biblical tale of Abraham and Isaac, however, set in the world of Lovecraftian mythology. The point is, acting blindly in faith to a Christian deity is just as absurd as worshiping squid like monsters from space who live under the sea.”

NSFW Video From Cattle Decapitation For “Clandestine Ways (Krokodil Rot)” https://www.yellmagazine.com/nsfw-video-cattle-decapitation-clandestine-ways-krokodil-rot/108972/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/nsfw-video-cattle-decapitation-clandestine-ways-krokodil-rot/108972/#respond Sat, 21 May 2016 16:57:24 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=108972 There are no absolutes in life, except the fact that there are no absolutes, but you can almost always count on Cattle Decapitation for gruesome, ultra violent, and disturbing videos to accompany their kick-ass tracks. The latest video to surface is for “Clandestine Ways (Krokodil Rot),” and unless you want to get fired from your ultra-conservative job, we suggest you watch this one in the comfort of your own home… or on your mobile device.

The video was directed by Mitch Massie and the track comes from Cattle Decapitation’s latest effort, The Anthropocene Extinction. Look for an uncensored version of the video soon, which is hard to believe because the censored version in the player above is pretty damn horrific.

Travis Ryan (vocals) comments on the video:

Mitch Massie once again hurls us into a nightmarish world of the eye for an eye table turning that Cattle Decapitation lyrics exude, but this time in a much more surreal manner. Here we see the circus has come to town and with it a grisly ‘freaks’ exhibit featuring the barbaric aftermath of what the protagonists (the ‘Ringmaster’ and a freed ‘specimen’) have done to the leading researchers at Cosmeugenics Laboratories – a place where Cosmetics testing is performed on earthen creatures all in the name of Human vanity – but this time by completely incorrectly administering the clandestine, flesh-eating drug ‘krokodil’. I’ll leave out the horrific details as you’ll have to see that for yourself!

Cattle Decapitation Premieres “Mammals In Babylon” https://www.yellmagazine.com/cattle-decapitation-premieres-mammals-in-babylon/101574/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/cattle-decapitation-premieres-mammals-in-babylon/101574/#respond Sun, 05 Jul 2015 11:56:30 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=101574 cattle decapitation - the anthropocene extinction - album cover

The Anthropocene Extinction is the forthcoming new full-length from San Diego deathgrind icons, Cattle Decapitation. Set for world wide release August 7, 2015, via Metal Blade Records, the followup to 2012’s critically acclaimed Monolith of Inhumanity was again captured by producer Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cephalic Carnage) at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado, and includes guest appearances from the legendary Philip H. Anselmo, Tristan Shone/Author & Punisher and Bethlehem’s Mr. Jurgen Bartsch.

As a precursor to its release, Revolver Magazine is streaming the album’s seventh track and second single, “Mammals in Babylon.” Listen to it here.

Offers guitarist Josh Elmor:

‘Mammals in Babylon’ was one of the earliest songs written for the new album. At that time we had completed several other tunes that fell more on the epic side of our writing style. As a foil to that strategy, ‘Mammals’ came about based upon a desire to concoct a no-BS, straight-forward ripper. Blending a brutal death metal assault with groovier passages that leads into a bleak, yet triumphant chorus, ‘Mammals’ has a pounding quality that gives way to a buzz-sawing completion. All the while [vocalist] Travis’ [Ryan] lyrics frame humanity’s infancy in paradise and our evolution to ‘maturity’ which now finds us dwelling in a wasteland of our own creation. We invite you to take a listen to the next track from The Anthropocene Extinction.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

Listen To “Manufactured Extinct,” Cattle Decapitation’s First Release From New Album https://www.yellmagazine.com/listen-manufactured-extinct-cattle-decapitations-release-album/99923/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/listen-manufactured-extinct-cattle-decapitations-release-album/99923/#respond Thu, 21 May 2015 01:56:30 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=99923 After three years we’re finally getting a taste of some new Cattle Decapitation as the August release of the band’s new album, The Anthropocene Extinction, approaches. But the release of the mid-tempo, nihilistic brutalific “Manufactured Extinct” isn’t the only news coming out of the Cattle Decapitation camp, as the band has also announced a special record release show that will take place on Friday, July 11th, at the Brick By Brick in San Diego, California. Author & Punisher, Noctuary, and Mortuus Terror will be joining Cattle Decapitation to make this a truly memorable experience (there will also be prizes for fans).

The Anthropocene Extinction will be released August 7, 2015, via Metal Blade Records. For pre-order bundles, go here.

If you’re wondering what “anthropocene” means, it’s a proposed term for the present geological epoch (from the time of the Industrial Revolution onward), during which humanity has begun to have a significant impact on the environment.

Here’s some information about the album from the press release:
[sic]
Reenlisting Monolith Of Inhumanity producer Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cephalic Carnage), CATTLE DECAPITATION returned to Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado, eager to revisit the close collaboration that helped bring that record to life. “Dave is a bonafide producer,” elaborates vocalist Travis Ryan. “He’s got a lot of great ideas and this time we heard him out pretty religiously because making Monolith… had worked out so well. We’ve always kind of co-produced our records with whoever we brought in, but these last two we did a lot more listening to what he had to say rather than just sticking with what we were saying. Sometimes we shot down his ideas and vice versa, but that discussion was always beneficial. He basically becomes the fifth member of the band at that point, and I think that kind of relationship is the best way to get anything out of anybody.”

CATTLE DECAPITATION also enlisted a surprising array of guests to help achieve their vision. The one and only legendary PHILIP H. ANSELMO lends his throat to “The Prophets Of Loss” while recent signee to his Housecore Records label, fellow San Diegan and friend of the band, AUTHOR & PUNISHER, brings forth the industrial damnation as an intro to the track “Plagueborne.” Additionally, Germany’s dark metal misanthrope, MR. JURGEN BARTSCH of the almighty BETHLEHEM, lends a spoken word piece in his native tongue to the apocalyptic final track “Pacific Grim.” Your body simply is not ready.

The record also sees the band extending their collaboration with illustrator Wes Benscoter, who’s handled the artwork for every CATTLE DECAPITATION release since 2002’s To Serve Man. “When we work with Wes, he becomes a member of the band,” says Ryan. As always, Benscoter formulated striking imagery that conveyed the record’s themes in unflinching style, the cover featuring a bloated and distorted corpse washed up on a beach, its torn abdomen disgorging a mass of waste plastic.

Whereas Monolith Of Inhumanity dealt with what could become of the earth and its life forms had humans continued their present course, with The Anthropocene Extinction we have been transported forward to man’s last gasps, reminiscent of what is currently going on with the Laysan Albatrosses on the island of Midway Atoll. The birds and aquatic wildlife of the Pacific Ocean are mistaking the vast amounts of man-made plastic items for food, ingesting it and are dying in large numbers, rotting where they fall and exposing to the world what is happening to the ecosystems of the earth’s oceans – the most unknown and unexplored part of our planet. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch of the North Pacific Gyre is just part of the problem – there are five gyres on planet earth and they’re all filling with plastic waste outnumbering the plankton vital for the ocean’s ecosystems. The breakdown of the earth’s ecosystems has begun long ago due to human interaction as well as the domino effect that will surely seal the fate for our species: The Anthropocene Extinction.

San Diego’s Cattle Decapitation have spent the last two years promoting what has become the most well-received and critically acclaimed album of their career. Monolith of Inhumanity earned rave reviews and debuted at #177 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, which is no small feat for such a heavy act. To follow up the album, Cattle Decapitation will be returning to Dave Otero’s Flatline Audio studio in Colorado. Otero was at the helm for both of the band’s previous albums, and the collaboration promises to compound on the exercises in melodic extremity that have vaulted Cattle Decapitation to the top of the extreme metal heap. The band is giving fans one final chance to see them live, and to hear new songs, before they begin to track their upcoming album.

Vocalist Travis Ryan explains:

We’ve been hard at work on the new album for the past year and are currently writing the last song for it! Happy to announce we will be playing this string of shows with our friends Theories. After the shows, we’ll spend five weeks recording the new album once again with Dave Otero! Don’t miss these shows, we will be playing loads of new material at them!

Exciting news from Cattle Decapitation. For some reason, I always find the rerelease of a band’s work on special vinyl issues to be exciting, and Cattle Decapitation are going forward with generous gatefold limited editions of their 10-year discography with Metal Blade Records, calling it the Decade of Decapitation. Extreme metal deserves extreme offers.

Find the details below, including cover artist info and show dates.

San Diego’s finest purveyors of extreme metal, Cattle Decapitation, are planning a series of limited edition vinyl releases for 2014 under the banner “Decade of Decapitation”, to celebrate 10 years of releases on Metal Blade Records. The band’s entire Metal Blade discography: To Serve Man (2002), Humanure (2004), Karma.Bloody.Karma (2006), The Harvest Floor (2009), and Monolith of Inhumanity (2012) are all being prepared in lavish gatefolds for release. The colors, handpicked by the band, reflect the concept or color scheme behind each album.

Fans will also have the opportunity to pick up a collectable box that comes with an exclusive T-shirt, both with brand new art from longtime Cattle Decapitation cover artist, Wes Benscoter.

Additionally, To Serve Man, the band’s debut full-length, and their sophomore effort Humanure have been remastered specially for this release. Each vinyl will be released separately in the coming months. Pre-orders for To Serve Man are available now at: indiemerch.com

Pre-order bundles:

To Serve Man vinyl – PRE-ORDER
To Serve Man deluxe bundle (vinyl w/ Decade of Decapitation collector’s box) – PRE-ORDER
To Serve Man collector’s bundle (vinyl, Decade of Decapitation collector’s box, exclusive t-shirt) – PRE-ORDER

Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan adds:

We are very excited to announce the ‘Decade of Decapitation’ reissues! All of our Metal Blade discography has been out of print since right after each release and we’re glad we will finally be able to meet some of the demands of the fans with these cool reissues! I’ve had rare items in my personal collection that came with an empty spot for other items that had to be hunted down in order to be complete, I always thought that was fun and so now we pass the hunt on to our fans! The box art is another quality piece from the great Wes Benscoter, which reveals the inside living space of a psychopath hellbent on revenge, the same point of view from which the majority of our lyrics come from.

Cattle Decapitation vinyl colors:

To Serve Man – (Longpig Slaughter colored vinyl – red splattered on pink)
Humanure – (Bloody Stool colored vinyl – red splattered on brown)
Karma.Bloody.Karma – (Blood On Blood colored vinyl – red splattered on blood red)
The Harvest Floor – (Bloody Steel colored vinyl – red splattered on silver)

Cattle Decapitation Working On Next Album https://www.yellmagazine.com/cattle-decapitation-working-album/75688/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/cattle-decapitation-working-album/75688/#respond Mon, 30 Dec 2013 04:57:19 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=75688 cattle decapitation

That’s right, throughout 2013, Cattle Decapitation shocked and awed the metal world (remember the video for “Forced Gender Reassignment”?) with their 2012 release, Monolith of Inhumanity, and now the controversial death metal band is preparing to work on the follow-up. The as yet unnamed album is tentatively scheduled for a 2015 release.

From the sound of things, it seems as though the band has a rough sketch of the songs, with at least one song completed in terms of the music. Vocalist Travis Ryan comments:

Since we got home from The Summer Slaughter Tour the guys have been hard at work on new material! I actually go in next week to grab a quick run through of the first new track they have completed so I can start writing lyrics to it. I have heard the track and I hate to say anything just yet because we will be spending the next full year from now working on the next album, but I will say the stuff they’re working on is intense. I can’t wait to start writing lyrics to it and so far is in league with one of our current musical aspirations… to make fans of our last record shit themselves!

We’ll be taking a small break to play a few shows in our region with EyeHateGod and our friends Strong Intention on their January tour!

Stay tuned to Yell! Magazine and we’ll keep you posted on Cattle Decapitation’s progress.

The truth is, Cattle Decapitation is among the leaders for putting out the best videos. Their latest, “Your Disposal,” is from their most recent album, Monolith of Inhumanity (May 7, 2012). It’s the same album that brought us the shocking and explicit “Forced Gender Reassignment” video.

Once again, Cattle Decapitation has called upon Mitch Massie to direct the video for “Your Disposal.” Vocalist Travis Ryan explains the video:

“Director Mitch Massie has presented us all with a bizarre retelling of the story of Adam and Eve using themes from our latest album Monolith of Inhumanity. Here we see Eve giving birth to humanity, a living, breathing piece of primordial meat birthed into the dirt making its way through the Garden of Eden, hellbent on destruction… A clean and conscious monolith foretelling what could be possible given the fact that humans exhibit superior traits of intelligence, instead the Earth is flooded with technological fallout and debris by the hands of man. This video is very much a prequel to our other videos ‘Forced Gender Reassignment’ and, of course, ‘Kindgom of Tyrants.'”

Cattle Decapitation’s latest effort leaves me pretty speechless. It’s blistering, frenetic, insanely good, technical, and a neck breaker. I haven’t been this confused since getting into metal… or going through puberty. Sure there are tons of guests on Monolith of Inhumanity, but Travis Ryan’s vocals are all over the metal map, and Derek Engemann bass interludes are nothing but amazing.

Steam Monolith of Inhumanity.

Check out the press release below… and farther down are the tour dates, including the Shockwave Festival.

Cattle-Decapitation-Monolith-of-InhumanityMetalSucks has been serving up some raw death-grind metal with an exclusive stream of Cattle Decapitation’s Monolith Of Inhumanity. Set for a North American release on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, the 11-track long player is an achievement that stands out as one of the most volatile, ambitious, and impossible-to-pigeonhole records of 2012.

Produced by Dave Otero of Denver’s Flatline Audio, Monolith Of Inhumanity sees the band investigating inventive new techniques in songwriting without abandoning their signature formula of confrontational audio wreckage. Conceptually, the record revolves around a potent distaste for contemporary civilization and the damage wrought in the name of progress. In addition, Monolith Of Inhumanity features a host of guests including Mike Majewski of Devourment (guest vocals on “Projectile Ovulation”), Lenard Leal of Cephalic Carnage (backing vocals by on “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat”), The Cephalic Carnage Community Men’s Choir, consisting of all current Cephalic members and alumni Jawsh Mullen and Zac Joe (gang choir vocals on “The Carbon Stampede”), and ambient and noise interludes by Los Angeles’ most extreme decimator of sound, John Wiese.

Cattle Decapitation will also crush souls on this summer’s Shockwave Festival Tour 2012, announced earlier this week. The band will be joined by Fear Factory, Voivod, Misery Index, Revocation, Havok, Dirge Within, Last Chance To Reason, Vildhjarta, The Browning, and Forged In Flame.

Vocalist Travis Ryan stated that:

“It’s been a great start of the year for us, what with the new album already getting great reviews from fans and press and all, but we’re very excited for the announcement of this kick-ass USA tour. It marks our return to Canadian soil after a three-year absence and is looking to be an extremely heavy hitter. Very honored to be asked by the Shockwave Festival to be a part of it!”

In the meantime, Cattle Decapitation is currently bringing their audio pummel to the stage on the Occupation Domination 2012 tour alongside Origin, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, Rings Of Saturn, Battlecross, and more!
