Back in 2003, Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Renato Sobral submitted Chael Sonnen via second-round arm-triangle choke at UFC 55. Confirmed by Ralek Gracie, the founder of Metamoris, Sonnen is scheduled to meet “Babalu” on May 9th, at Metamoris VI in Los Angeles. It’s going to be a pure grappling rematch that fans won’t want to miss since the winner is only declared if there is a submission. I’m sure both fighters will do everything in their power to get the win. A note fans should take right now, avoid any blinking during this match because it could end in a split second.

As many of you already know, former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight contender Chael Sonnen retired from MMA competition. His retirement was the result of his second failed drug test last June, when the presence of five banned substances were found in his body, such as human growth hormone (HGH).

Following the controversy of his failed drug tests, the UFC and FOX Sports announced that they terminated Sonnen’s job as an MMA analyst. Now, five months later, “The American Gangster” has his job back, but with ESPN, according to The Associated Press on Tuesday:

I love to break down fights, I love to watch them. The fact that ESPN will allow me to do that on the air in a fancy suit and call it a job, it’s what I would be doing at home anyway. I wouldn’t shy away from a topic, even if it’s one that brought me shame. There are topics like that, and there are opponents I’m going to have to cover that have also embarrassed themselves, but that’s part of the sport, man. I cherish those moments.

Sonnen is expected to make his ESPN debut this Friday via SportsCenter to break down UFC 180: Werdum vs. Hunt, which takes place on Saturday night in Mexico City.

If you thought Chael Sonnen’s world is coming to ease since he failed two random drug tests administrated by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) for UFC 175, well think again because it’s far from going great for “The American Gangster”.

After the NAC discovered four banned substances in his blood and urine tests, which included the presence of human growth hormone (HGH), Sonnen announced his retirement and was forced to part ways from his duties as analyst for the UFC and FOX Sports 1.

Unfortunately, problems didn’t stop there. The NAC filed a disciplinary complaint against Sonnen, who has until July 17th to appeal it. Sonnen faces a fine of up to $250,000, the suspension of his license, expenses related to the complaint, and must clear a drug test upon his next licensing application.

According to Sonnen’s lawyer Jeff Meyer, he accepted responsibilities for his actions:

Mr. Sonnen does not dispute any of the factual allegations contained in the First Amended Complaint. Mr. Sonnen accepts responsibility for his actions and will comply with the Commission in the prompt resolution of this matter.

Sonnen case is expected to be heard at a hearing held by the NAC on July 23rd.

Since Chael Sonnen’s duties as analyst for FOX Sports 1 and UFC has been terminated a few days ago, fans of “The American Gangster” may want to hear about Dana White’s thoughts on the shocking decision that put Chael out the door from the No.1 MMA organization in the world because he failed two random drug tests administrated by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) for UFC 175.

Here is what Dana said yesterday on FOX Sports 1:

You know, its never easy making decisions like this. You know, Chael is a person I personally care about, I know a lot of people at FOX care about him too. The guy had four banned substances in his system. Four banned substances in his system leading up to a fight here in Las Vegas.

It’s a tough one, it’s one of those hard decisions you gotta make. It was definitely a hard one. It was something we had to do.

Where does Chael’s career go from here? Well, Scott Coker is now president of Bellator MMA, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chael working for Bellator in the very near future.

After failing two random drug tests administered by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), the UFC and FOX Sports 1 have officially decided to terminate their broadcasting services agreements with Chael Sonnen, who previously served has their main analyst alongside Kenny Florian, Rashad Evans, Dominic Cruz, and Daniel Cormier.

A joint statement was released late Monday night:

The UFC and FOX Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen. This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June. Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May.

Since his termination, Sonnen hasn’t made a public comment yet on the shocking situation, but his case is expected to be evaluated by NAC on July 23, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
