Before I even begin, I would like to give this horror a huge Hell Yeah! Now, I know the whole clown thing tends to unsettle a lot of people, because let’s face it, most people don’t like clowns. But I’m here to tell you that this movie is definitely worth the watch.

Let’s start with a small but interesting comparison to Stephen King‘s It, one of my all time favorite horror flicks. The clowns in both of these movies kill and eat children. However, Watts’ clown only needs 5 children each time a host is possessed, while King’s clown surfaces every 30 years to feed and then goes back to hibernating. Watching Clown, it clear that Watts paid considerable homage to the modern master of horror.

To give you a quick synopsis of Clown, while not spoiling the whole movie, Kent (Andy Powers) is asked to be a clown for his son’s birthday party because the original clown never showed up. Coincidentally, Kent finds a chest containing a clown costume in the basement of a house that he is trying to sell. Needless to say, shit hits the fan. Kent soon discovers that he is unable to take off the costume, suit, clown wig, and nose, because it’s all made the hair and skin of some ancient demon clown. Basically, Kent is changing into the very demon that feeds on children.

If you have ever seen an Eli Roth movie, then you know that he likes to cross the line to push the boundaries of what is acceptable. You saw that in Hostel with the whole torture idea. Well, in Clown, and I shouldn’t be surprised, things are no different with Roth as producer — and you actually see child gore. Seriously, you see blood and guts of children several times. Hell, Kent even bites a kid’s fingers off in one scene. Skip to the end of the film, and you’ll see that Kent isn’t really Kent anymore; he’s more like the demon clown seen in the historical texts shown in the movie.

Watch The New Clown Trailer https://www.yellmagazine.com/watch-clown-trailer/97009/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/watch-clown-trailer/97009/#comments Thu, 12 Mar 2015 22:21:07 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=97009 If you didn’t like clowns before, you’re gonna fucking hate them now! (Note: I hate clowns.)

Clown Synopsis:

After a clown can’t show up to his son’s birthday party, a loving father finds a clown suit to dress up in for his son’s birthday party, only to realize the suit is part of an evil curse that turns its wearer into a killer clown.

After already having a theatrical release in the UK and Italy, there’s no word yet on a U.S. screen date. I guess we’re too sissy for such a freaktastic concept. But, Clown is bound to be a cult classic, and it’s roots are the stuff of legend; a fake trailer for Clown naming Eli Roth as producer showed up online about five years ago. Now the movie is real and Eli Roth does, in fact, have a producing credit.

Despite my deep hatred for clowns, even I can see that this movie needs a U.S. theatrical release. What do you think of the new trailer?

Clown Poster Banned In Italy https://www.yellmagazine.com/clown-poster-banned-italy/91819/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/clown-poster-banned-italy/91819/#comments Tue, 04 Nov 2014 20:16:17 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=91819 clown eli roth - banned italian poster

This movie just gives me the heebie-jeebies, and apparently the fine folks in Italy weren’t too fond of the poster either.

The Eli Roth-produced Clown will hit Italian theaters on November 13th, and as to be expected, promotion is in full swing. However, the original poster (seen above) was recently banned and replaced with a censored version (below). If you’re like me and don’t like clowns, you’ll understand why the poster was banned. It also might have something to do with frightening small children who catch a glimpse of the terrifying poster in passing, just as what happened in 1984 with Silent Night, Deadly Night. Come to think of it, there are similarities between these two movies.

Clown started out as a fake trailer by Jon Watts, who directs the feature-length movie penned by himself and Christopher D. Ford.

If you have the balls for it, watch the trailer.

Scariest Clown Film Ever Made? Here It Is [VIDEO] https://www.yellmagazine.com/scariest-clown-film-made-video/76370/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/scariest-clown-film-made-video/76370/#comments Fri, 10 Jan 2014 20:23:14 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=76370 Clown, a new horror film directed by Jon Watts and produced by Donny “The Bear Jew” Donowitz, I mean Eli Roth, is destined to make you think twice before ever putting on a clown costume for Halloween. For some of us, Stephen King’s It already accomplished that in the ’8os, and I’m pretty sure our editor Evil Argento hasn’t popped in another clown film ever since.

However, for those who thought that was a walk in the park in terms of fright may want to consider watching this creepy ass flick when it drops because it could be the scariest clown film ever made. Well, at least the new official trailer for the film is giving me that signal. Plus, every time Eli is attached to a project like this, it usually means good in my book.

There’s still no word yet on the street on when Clown will be released, but expect it to be announced very soon. So, stay tuned on Yell! Magazine for that update.

About Clown (2014)

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Andy Powers as a father who puts on a clown costume for his son’s birthday, but a curse means he can’t take it off and, well, things go downhill from there. Also starring Laura Allen and Peter Stormare, it looks to contain some fairly haunting imagery…
