This just makes sense. He’s a slayer with a machete, and they’re, well, Slayer. We’re obviously talking about the recent news from Peruvian site El Cuartel Del Metal that iconic film star Danny Trejo has been caught in a picture while on set with Slayer.

It’s not confirmed yet for which track the music video was shot, but be sure that we’ll let you know as soon as we find out. Nonetheless, Slayer’s new album, Repentless, will see release on September 11th.

According to the press release, Season Two will “delves into a new and unexpected chapter for the characters after a night at the Titty Twister ripped apart everything they knew about themselves, each other and their souls.” In the new season, creator Robert Rodriguez plans to bring a whole new experience and allow fans to learn more about the Dusk universe.

Rodriguez said,

The first season of ‘Dusk’ reimagined the original film to allow us to expand our story and characters for future seasons. I’m excited for fans to now experience this completely new story arc where they will learn more about the Dusk universe and their favorite characters within this dark, dangerous, crime world with a supernatural edge.

In film, Danny Trejo is often attached as a villain or anti-hero, and in the upcoming season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Trejo will continue to play as a perfect killing machine named “The Regulator.” A brand new character in Robert Rodriguez’s horror show who is described as “a horrifying agent of evil who is summoned to perform a deadly errand.”

El Rey Network and Miramax have released a first-look image of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series featuring Danny Trejo (Machete, Machete Kills) locked and loaded as”The Regulator.” As many of you already know, Trejo previously appeared in the From Dusk Till Dawn film franchise as “Razor Charlie.”

Season Two explores a new chapter in this supernatural crime saga that travels from Mexico to the edgy, tricked-out Texas of Robert Rodriguez. Are you ready to blast off? Danny Trejo has unofficially announced that Machete Kills in Space will be made this year, saying to Halloween Daily News:

Robert and I are going to start to do Machete Kills in Space, so that’s going to be awesome. Absolutely. We’re going to be working on it this year.

If you saw Machete Kills — and, according to the numbers, not many of you did — and if you stuck around for the fake trailer for Machete Kills in Space, then this news might not be surprising to you, but no doubt you’re pretty happy to hear something of the movie’s progress.

The franchise is known for it’s A-lister cameo draws, but other than the return of Michelle Rodriguez there’s nothing to be known about who else might be interested in appearing in Machete Kills in Space. Have no fear, however, as we’ll keep you posted as news develops around this project.

Director Rene Perez’ The Burning Dead (formerly Volcano Zombies), starring action superstar Danny Trejo (Machete), arrives March 3rd, on digital and VOD from Uncork’d Entertainment. The DVD sears home video a month later, April 7th.

Written and produced by Jeff Miller and Jason Ancona, The Burning Dead pits a horde of lava-filled zombies against a sheriff charged with the plight to rescue an estranged family from a volcano eruption. Trejo plays Night Wolf, a Native American warrior who knows way too much about the curse that unearthed the coffin dodgers.

We spoke to one of the films heroines, Moniqua Plante, best known for her recurring role on TV’s Nashville.

Thanks for taking the time to talk. Your schedule with Nashville must keep you pretty busy?
It has it’s moments for sure! I’ve been back for a week now, so luckily I’ve had some catch up and downtime. I really feel so incredibly lucky, so no complaints here. In this industry, busy is good! It’s been such a blast. Amazing cast and crew.

How does doing a TV show differ from film?
A TV show works pretty fast, an episode per week, but the story keeps evolving and changing. You never know exactly where it’s going to take you as an actor. Which keeps it interesting and exciting for sure. Depending on the film, it can take months to tell the complete story or in some cases only a few days. But as an actor, you have the script, you know what needs to happen to get from point A to point B. There are variations on how the characters accomplish those beats emotionally and physically, but you know where the story begins and ends.

Is there one you prefer doing over the other?
I love both mediums. Quite honestly, if you’re fortunate enough to be working consistently, they’re both amazing mediums to work in. If you’re fortunate enough to book a series regular role or a nice recurring part, you can have weeks, months, and even years to develop and work with a particular character and evolve with that character. In film, you have more opportunity to play a wider variety of characters, which is very tantalizing to an actor. Of course, if you’re booking many different TV roles, that’s the case in the TV genre as well.

Who is Mindy Roberts (in The Burning Dead) and what makes her tick?
She is smart and strong, and stubborn as hell, just like her father. She loves her family more than anything, but won’t make the first move to patch things up with her father even though it pains her that they are estranged. She is, after all, just like her dad.

Does she have much interaction with Danny Trejo’s character?
Unfortunately, not at all! I was so bummed!

Who is the real Danny Trejo – is he the tough guy we see on screens?
I’ve heard he’s a totally cool cat. You’ll have to ask the producers and Tom Downey for the inside scoop!

Real lava probably wasn’t used for the movie, so what did you have to act scared of? A tennis ball on a string?
We didn’t even have a tennis ball, or like in the Hulk movies, a Hulk face on a stick! Just good ol’ imagination. I think that’s why these movies are so much fun and difficult at the same time. Making it real and finding the truth in such crazy situations is where you find the good stuff.

Was the appeal of doing this one simply because it looked fun?
Absolutely. I’ve never done a zombie film, and who doesn’t love a good campy fun zombie film! Plus, I really loved working with the creators, Jeff Miller and Jason Ancona. They were so open and collaborative. Tom Downey and the rest of the cast were so much fun and worked their tails off!

Can you talk about your one shot appearance on one of the best shows on TV, Banshee. Was that as fun to shoot as it is to watch?
That show is amazing to work on! The creator/writer, Jonathan Tropper, is truly a creative genius and if you met him, you’d never imagine this sick twisted dark story comes out of his brain. Great cast and I was able to work with a kick-ass director, Ole Christian Madsen.

Your bio also mentions you’re a producer. What things are you producing?
I’m writing a feature-length comedy at the moment. My first foray into producing was a feature film, Beyond the Mat, a high school sports drama. I learned so much on that film, wore so many hats! The real labor of love was the short action thriller that followed, Pillow Talk, in which I also starred. Pillow Talk went on to win nine awards including three best actress awards, breakout action star, best action short, and best director. It is currently on ShortsTV as well as iTunes.

Only Robert Rodriguez can pull this genre off, and I’m glad he can because we would be stuck with another remake or comic book adaption. Hollywood lacks originality these days, and Machete Kills definitely breaks there mold. I’ve been sold on the film since the day Mel Gibson was cast, he even steals the spotlight in this trailer. Gibson is “a genuine, high-caliber fucker-people-upper”, and I second that.

Machete Kills drops in theaters next month on October 11, 2013.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Robert Rodriguez’ sequel to Sin City got a new release date attached to it, and I think I jinxed Machete Kills when I mentioned it in the report. I wish I could retract the mention because, for unknown reasons, Open Road Films has now pushed back the release date for Machete Kills. I guess that makes me a believer in karma.

The film was originally scheduled for September. As of today, the new date is officially set for Friday, October 4, 2013. At least the change is only a few week’s difference rather than nearly a complete year like Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson.

What we have for you today is the first trailer for Zombie Hunter. It’s not perfect, it’s actually “in bad shape,” but the film just got underway in its Kickstarter campaign for money for its visual and audio effects.

Zombie Hunter comes from first time writer, director, and producer K. King, and, aside from Danny Trejo, also stars Martin Copping, Clare Niederpruem (The Maze, Orc Wars, Vamp U), and Amy Savannah (Street, Friend Request).

There’s no official word yet on when Zombie Hunter will be released, but if all goes well with Kickstarter, we can hope for something by the end of 2013 or early 2014.
