About With the Dead:

Like the product of some sort of alchemical alignment or a diabolical modern demon summoned by a whispered incantatory spell, With the Dead were formed on All Hallow’s Eve 2014, by the founding rhythm section of occultist doom overloads Electric Wizard guitarist/bassist Tim Bagshaw and drummer Mark Greening, a pair once notorious for the sheer brute heaviness of their bowel-shaking sound and early extra-curricular activities that involved excess, injury, and low-level criminality (arrests for the theft of a crucifix from a church roof and drunkenly robbing an off-licence to name but two). Both have also played together in Ramesses.

Completing the triangle is frontman Lee Dorrian, co-founder of doom pioneers Cathedral, former frontman with grindcore legends Napalm Death and owner of Rise Above Records.

Electric Wizard Premiere The Cult-BDSM “SadioWitch” Video https://www.yellmagazine.com/electric-wizard-premiere-cult-bdsm-sadiowitch-video/89551/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/electric-wizard-premiere-cult-bdsm-sadiowitch-video/89551/#respond Mon, 08 Sep 2014 18:48:54 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=89551 Last month we brought you the new track from Electric Wizard, “SadioWitch,” saying that this is how doom metal should sound in the 21st century before going on to call it dark, brooding, fuzzy, fresh, inventive, and simultaneously retro and modern. As of today, Electric Wizard have premiered the accompanying video, and it’s everything you’d want the video to be. It features gothic images, cult worship, scenes of BDSM, and more.

Electric Wizard vocalist/guitarist Jus Oborn commented on the video, which was captured in various locations, including Iceland:

Clandestinely filmed scenes of Luciferian depravity of the kind long-awaited by the die-hard cult of Wizard fans… A visual amalgamation of Kenneth Anger’s psychedelic occultism, the monomania of Jess Franco, and the unbridled excess of Robert Hartford Davies, documenting fully the pleasures of the flesh, drugs, and sadism… as they really happen today…

Electric Wizard’s Time To Die drops on September 30th, via Spinefarm Records. Pre-orders can be made via Amazon: CD – $13.98 or Vinyl – $25.98 or MP3 – $9.49

New Music: Electric Wizard Warns Of Soul-Sapping Black Drugs In “SadioWitch” https://www.yellmagazine.com/new-music-electric-wizard-sadiowitch/88724/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/new-music-electric-wizard-sadiowitch/88724/#respond Tue, 19 Aug 2014 14:05:26 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=88724 Yes! This is how doom metal should sound in the 21st century. It’s dark, brooding, fuzzy, fresh, inventive, and simultaneously retro and modern. There’s a whole lot more going on too, such as the near Rob Zombie vocal styling (well, when he’s doing creepy background stuff), the melding of layers that vinyl usually achieves, and the perfect imperfection.

“SadioWitch” is the second track released from Electric Wizard’s forthcoming album, Time to Die (due out September 30th). The track will soon have a video to go along with it, and it’s rumored to have nudity and explosions in it. About the track itself, guitarist/vocalist Jus Oborn has stated:

’SadioWitch’ is about death by lust and indulgence. As life becomes disillusioning it is reassuring to turn to ‘life’s luxuries’… sex and drugs. But, of course, overindulgence leads to emaciation, weakness, and death. The song is short and sweet just like this particular form of death. There are many choices but only one outcome. Choose wisely.

Electric Wizard and Spinefarm Records are also releasing “SadioWitch” on a 7” vinyl, with a B side that’s previously unreleased and not included on Time to Die. So, if you’re a collector, that’s probably something you’ll want to get your hands on.

Don’t Trip Out, It’s Just Electric Wizard With “I Am Nothing” [VIDEO] https://www.yellmagazine.com/dont-trip-out-its-electric-wizard-i-nothing-video/87788/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/dont-trip-out-its-electric-wizard-i-nothing-video/87788/#respond Tue, 29 Jul 2014 18:20:33 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=87788 Earlier this month, the doom metal outfit Electric Wizard announced the details regarding their forthcoming eighth studio album, Time to Die. The band also revealed an audio stream of “I Am Nothing,” and today the band has unleashed the acid-inspired video for the same track. Yeah, it’s like watching the backdrop to a televised performance from Black Sabbath or Deep Purple or Iron Butterfly from the ‘60s.

It’s a badass and trippy track with a languid militant march that would be perfectly suited for the soundtrack of Apocalypse Now, or something like that. Check it out and let us know what you think of the track in the comments section below.

Electric Wizard says that it’s Time to Die. Better hope that you’re right with God, or that you’ve been evil enough in this life to have some privilege in hell.

It was just over a week ago that we brought you news of the bands forthcoming album, Time to Die, and now we have the first track to indulge in. “I Am Nothing” is a spooky, doomy, evil sounding track that’ll have your parents worried that you’re performing occult rituals in their basement.

Head on over to noisey.vice.com to scope the track.

Guitarist/vocalist Jus Oborn explains the track:

It was the year I became a metal-head. It was heavy shit for real – there was no way you were ever going to get a decent job. So I became a Satanist, I dug up a grave, I got into tape trading, I had a one-man noise/black/death metal band called Regurgitated Guts, and there were loads of documentaries on TV warning us not to listen to the devil’s music…

We’re still keeping an eye out for the release date for *Time to Die, as well as other details. As soon as we know, we’ll be sure to Yell about them.
