The horror master is bringing Jack Black (Goosebumps) along for the twisted ride.

According to multiple entertainment sources, Roth is tapped to direct The House with a Clock in its Walls, which is based on a novel of the same name written by John Bellairs and originally published in 1973. The book was illustrated by Edward Gorey.

From what we currently know, Eric Kripke the creator of The WB (now The CW) series Supernatural, the NBC series Revolution and more recently, the NBC series Timeless, penned the screenplay for the film.

Although not officially announced yet, Black is expected to play the main characters relative, Lewis Barnavelt’s uncle.

Lastly, Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt will produce the film, with William Sherak, Tracey Nyberg, and Laeta Kalogridis on board as executive producers.

About the Novel

Lewis always dreamed of living in an old house full of secret passageways, hidden rooms, and big marble fireplaces. And suddenly, after the death of his parents, he finds himself in just such a mansion–his Uncle Jonathan’s. When he discovers that his big friendly uncle is also a wizard, Lewis has a hard time keeping himself from jumping up and down in his seat. Unfortunately, what Lewis doesn’t bank on is the fact that the previous owner of the mansion was also a wizard–but an evil one who has placed a tick-tocking clock somewhere in the bowels of the house, marking off the minutes until the end of the world. And when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead on Halloween night, the clock only ticks louder and faster. Doomsday draws near–unless Lewis can stop the clock!

Eli Roth Presents Terror Tram, A New Terrifying Attraction At Halloween Horror Nights https://www.yellmagazine.com/eli-roth-presents-terror-tram-attraction-halloween-horror-nights/111523/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/eli-roth-presents-terror-tram-attraction-halloween-horror-nights/111523/#respond Sat, 27 Aug 2016 14:35:33 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=111523 One of the kings of modern horror cinema, Eli Roth, is partnering up with Universal Studios again to bring us another terrifying attraction at Halloween Horror Nights this September.

Since the rise of a few scary clown flicks lately, Roth figured an attraction focused on a killer clown made perfect sense for a modern thrill ride in Hollywood. And I would have to completely agree with the idea because the timing is just right. Although it’s not affiliated, it’s a nice build up to highly-anticipated rebooted of IT.

Entitled Terror Tram, the intense attraction will expose horror hounds to the fabled legacy of serial killer clown “Hollywood Harry,” the story of a former jovial celebrity clown turn depraved murderer, and the minefield of carnage he left behind.

Roth stated,

I’m thrilled to be part of ‘Halloween Horror Nights’ again. We wanted to completely fabricate an original story that brings together our absolute freakiest, scariest most disturbing ideas. The ‘Halloween Horror Nights’ team is the best in the business. Their production and execution is unmatched and I know this ‘Terror Tram’ experience will blow away all expectations, and haunt guests for the rest of their lives. ‘Halloween Horror Nights is the must-see event for any horror movie fan— it’s like the Super Bowl for scary movies, and is my favorite event of the year.

Terror Tram will begin spooking fans out on Friday, September 16th, 2016. Tickets are expected to be sold via the official Halloween Horror Nights website.

For a close look at the attraction, check out the killer teaser right below.

Cabin Fever Remake Trailer Is Here! But Is This Necessary? https://www.yellmagazine.com/cabin-fever-remake-trailer-here-necessary/106246/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/cabin-fever-remake-trailer-here-necessary/106246/#respond Sat, 30 Jan 2016 15:00:45 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=106246 It’s roughly been 14 years since Eli Roth‘s classic gorefest, Cabin Fever, was released. While the subsequent sequels veered from the original film’s tone, they weren’t half bad either (or at least the second one, I haven’t seen the others, and I’m assuming the third also strayed).

Now, the original movie has been remade, and while it looks awesome, is there really a need for it? Other than for a cash grab? It doesn’t look all that different, fans are undoubtedly going to prefer the original, and there are plenty of newer movies like this that aren’t piggy backing on an existing franchise.

Whatever your views are on this, check out the new Cabin Fever trailer in the player above. Then yell at us in the comments section below.

Eli Roth is producing the Travis Zariwny-directed remake, which stars Gage Golightly, Matthew Daddario, Samuel Davis, Dustin Ingram, and Nadine Crocker.

Cabin Fever Synopsis:

Eli Roth took on the same challenge as Ruggero in 2012 to shoot his must-anticipated horror film The Green Inferno. As you watch the new behind-the-scenes video clip above, you will see just how dangerous filming in the Amazon rainforest was. As I said before, Roth is one crazy filmmaker, and his crew who tagged along with him for the film is just as nuts. Check it out!

Eli Roth To Direct A Giant Shark Movie? https://www.yellmagazine.com/eli-roth-direct-shark-movie/101030/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/eli-roth-direct-shark-movie/101030/#respond Thu, 18 Jun 2015 15:58:38 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=101030 Eli Roth

A film based on Steve Alten’s megalodon science fiction novel, MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror, has been entrapped in development hell since 1997. At one point, New Line Cinema bought the rights from Alten to have a MEG movie released to theaters in 2008. But that turned out to be a huge disaster after New Line cancelled production in July 2007. Afterwards, Alten’s relationship with New Line ended and the movie rights reverted back to him.

Fortunately, Alten hasn’t given up on his quest to have MEG adapted to the big screen and it finally sounds like the movie is moving forward again at Warner Bros. with Gravity Pictures recently joining the producing team that consists of Atelles Entertainment and Maedey Productions. Better yet, the movie now appears to have a director in place. According to Variety, Cabin Fever and Hostel director Eli Roth is in talks to helm the giant shark movie. There’s no official word if they railed him in for the sharp-toothed project yet. But we’ll keep Yellers updated on Yell! Magazine.

For those unfamiliar with MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror, you can read the official synopsis below.

MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror

Carcharodon megalodon apex predator of all time, the most fearsome creature that ever lived a 70-foot, 60,000 pound Great White Shark. Hundreds of 7-inch serrated teeth filled jaws that could swallow an elephant whole. It could sense its prey miles away, inhaling its scent as it registered the beat of its fluttering heart, and if you ever came close enough to see the monster…it was already too late. For Navy deep-sea submersible pilot Jonas Taylor, it nearly was too late. Years ago, on a top-secret dive seven miles down into the Mariana Trench, Jonas came face to face with an ancient monster everyone believed extinct. Having barely escaped with his life, Jonas must prove to the world that Meg still exists. When an opportunity to return to the trench presents itself, he takes it, intent on returning topside with a 7-inch tooth! But man s presence in this unexplored domain releases one of the sharks from its purgatory, and now Jonas is the only one who can stop it.
