The band has cultivated a strong following over the years since their inception in 2004. Due in part to their eclectic and hard to pigeonhole sound that continues to mutate and change with each new release. Ulcer Island expertly flaunts their amorphous nature, with songs constantly switching gears and combining different styles together in a variety of different ways throughout its eclectic 41-minute run time.

Vocalist Will (Artifical Brain, Afterbirth) commented on the album:

Ulcer Island is a concept album in which the narrative gradually moves from the oblique street level view into a dreamlike introspection. Ulcer Island’s blend of grindcore, power violence, and death metal is arranged in a way that mirrors this transition as the album progresses.

Make sure to check out the album’s first single, “Ascend to Descend,” right here on Yell! Magazine.

Pre-orders for Ulcer Island are now available through the Buckshot Facelift Bandcamp page.

Buckshot Facelift Is:

Will Smith (Artificial Brain, Afterbirth) – “The Voice”
Tom Anderer (Grey Skies Fallen) – Bass, Baritone Guitar, Vocals
Sal Gregory (Grey Skies Fallen) – Drums
Rick Habeeb (Grey Skies Fallen) – Guitar, Vocals
Terrell Grannum (Thaetas) – Guitar, Vocals

Brace Yourself For Nuclear Holocaust https://www.yellmagazine.com/brace-nuclear-holocaust/108733/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/brace-nuclear-holocaust/108733/#respond Sun, 15 May 2016 14:14:53 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=108733 Selfmadegod Records has issued the first single from Overkill Commando, the debut full-length from Polish grindcore quartet, Nuclear Holocaust, as the album is completed for release this summer. The single, “Abominations of Annihilation,” is gritty and dirty in its delivery and ends far too soon, clocking in at just 1 minute and 21 seconds. But that only leaves room for the 19 other tracks on the new album. Have a listen in the player above.

Nuclear Holocaust, comprised of vocalist Bloodseeker, guitarist XXX-Bomber, drummer Overkiller, and bassist Doomtrigger, recorded 20 brand new songs for their debut album at local Backyard Studios with producer Pawel “Chudy” Chyla in April and May 2016, completing the album just days ago. Overkill Commando is a powerful dose of dirty, old-fashioned grindcore heavily influenced by classic bands like Terrorizer, Extreme Noise Terror, and Repulsion. The cover image is by Marcin Studzinski of St. Chaos Art.

The album’s track listing and release info have also been revealed.

Overkill Commando will see European release on June 27th, and will see U.S. release on September 9th, the long delay due to a new MVD distribution deal for Selfmadegod Records, this record marking the first title under the new pact.

Spread The Holiday Cheer With Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore https://www.yellmagazine.com/spread-holiday-cheer-choosing-death-improbable-history-death-metal-grindcore/105179/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/spread-holiday-cheer-choosing-death-improbable-history-death-metal-grindcore/105179/#respond Tue, 24 Nov 2015 01:57:01 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=105179 Choosing Death The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore

Looking to deck the halls with death metal and grindcore this holiday season? If so, then you need to pick up a copy of the fully redesigned version of Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore. Written by Decibel Magazine Editor in Chief Albert Mudrian. The book is available for purchase here.

Originally released on Feral House in 2004, Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore, is widely recognized as the definitive history of its titular extreme music subgenres. For its (more or less) 10-year anniversary, author Albert Mudrian has chosen life after death in the form of an expanded and revised edition, which flaunts a whopping 100 additional pages of new content.

This fully redesigned hardcover version is the inaugural release of brand-new imprint Decibel Books, and is limited to 3,000 hand-numbered copies. It boasts three new chapters (with new material interspersed among the original 10 chapters), over 50 new interviews (for a total of 200), and a new cover painting by legendary death metal artist Dan Seagrave, recalling elements of his classic Entombed and Morbid Angel album covers. Well over half of the 3,000 copies printed have already been sold, so don’t miss your chance to grab one of the remaining copies before it’s too late.

Now out of print, the original Choosing Death has been translated into seven different languages around the world. This exciting history, featuring an introduction by famed DJ John Peel, tells the two-decade-long history of grindcore and death metal through the eyes and ringing ears of the artists, producers, and label owners who propelled them. Phil Anselmo (Down, ex-Pantera) called it “something special. This is a must-read for anyone who wants a comprehensive ‘who-did-what-when’ book. Thumbs up.”

“Choosing Death is one of the first – and most insightful – documentations about the underground music scene. I still go back to this book to indulge in the stories, the anecdotes, and the overall history of a scene that was, and still is a big part of my life. I’m glad that another revised edition sees the light of day, and look forward to more hours to spend with this gem,” says At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg

Bassist/vocalist Paul Herzog commented on the song:

This song represents an uncontrolled outburst of radiation at an instant of birth or death. Pulsation. Particles. Pre-existence. I have a rabid obsession with puking out waves of aural energy.
