On Saturday night, Aldo skipped the UFC 212 post-fight presser and avoided question by the media. But this week he finally expressed interest to return inside the Octagon.

Aldo wrote,

“Be content to act, and leave the talking to others” – Baltasar Gracian

I only have to thank my ‘dad’ Andre Pederneiras, the best team in the world, Nova Uniao, because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be the people’s champion, and (thank) all my trainers, who did a super well done job and got me ready, and all my fans who are always with me, here’s my love and my thank you. I’m speechless with all the love I’ve received until today, and every word you send to me. Thank you.

The rest, fuck it, because I’ll come back, because we go down so we can get back up!! That’s it!! We’ll be back!!

On June 3, 2017, Aldo faced interim featherweight champion Holloway in the main event at UFC 212. The Nova Uniao star lost the fight by TKO in the third round after a back-and-forth battle. Despite the loss, the fight earned Aldo his fourth Fight of the Night bonus award.

UFC 212: Jose Aldo To Defend Featherweight Title Against Max Holloway https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-212-jose-aldo-defend-featherweight-title-max-holloway/115898/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-212-jose-aldo-defend-featherweight-title-max-holloway/115898/#respond Sun, 12 Feb 2017 17:57:07 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=115898 Unifying the UFC featherweight belts is the next big step in the 145-pound division. UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Max Holloway will finally meet inside the Octagon in June.

Following months of twists and turns in the featherweight division, largely due to the UFC taking away the belt from Conor McGregors for no real reason, the promotion booked a title unification bout between Aldo and Holloway for UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro. Combate initially broke the news earlier this week, but the UFC made the official announcement on Sunday morning.

Holloway, 25, is currently in the victory lane since his loss to McGregor back at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen in August 2013. Since then Holloway won 9 straight fights over top contenders such as Anthony Pettis, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira, and Cub Swanson, respectively. While Aldo has a recent win over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 and only has loses to McGregor and Luciano Azevedo.

UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway takes place on June 3, 2017.

UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt Seeking “Biggest Money Fight” https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-bantamweight-champion-cody-garbrandt-seeking-money-fights/114861/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-bantamweight-champion-cody-garbrandt-seeking-money-fights/114861/#comments Tue, 03 Jan 2017 15:54:41 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=114861 Newly minted UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is the new face of the men’s 135-pound division. Following his successful victory over former reigning champion Dominick Cruz, Garbrandt is now seeking the “biggest money fight” in 2017.

In a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Garbrandt expressed his thoughts on who he would like to fight next in the New Year. According to Garbrandt, neither a rematch with Cruz, nor a fight with his former Team Alpha Male teammate T.J. Dillashaw is the first thing on his mind.

Garbrandt is currently thinking bigger, meaning the “biggest money fight” available for him in the UFC.

He said,

I need to sit down with Dana [White] and Sean [Shelby], and find out the biggest money fight for me, I know I could go up and fight with Jose Aldo. He has wins over my teammates, he’s a legend, and I’d like to test his chin. I know I hit hard, and I’m just getting started. And I could also have the biggest fight with Conor [McGregor]. I could easily go up. My homie Nate Diaz choked him out, and I can’t believe he’s pound-for-pound No. 2 on the list, with, you know he got choked out.

At the moment, there’s a lot of fights for Garbrandt in the bantamweight division, but the heavy hitter is seeking bigger and better things with names such as Jose Aldo or Conor McGregor.

Yeah, whatever benefits me. I’m the champ. I’m the champ. I just went out there and beat one of the best pound-for-pounds, who’s been on the pound-for-pound [list] for however long now. I want the biggest draw. I think Jose Aldo…I want the biggest challenge. I’m in this sport to challenge myself. I just beat Dominick handily, and I’m ready for a bigger challenge. I think Jose Aldo is tough, I respect him, but I want to test his chin. I know I hit like a Mack Truck. Like I said, I’m just getting started, just getting comfortable.

And you know, Conor, too. He knows that I’d go up to 150 and catchweight with him. Jose Aldo I’ll go up to 45. But yeah. I’m excited for the potential match-ups for me. I feel like I’m one of the biggest draws. I’m the biggest draw for Conor in the division, you know what I mean? I’m a rising star. Jose Aldo needs a fight. I think that he went out there and said that he’d like to fight me too.

Garbrandt, 25, has an undefeated professional MMA record. At UFC 207, He became champion, winning the fight by unanimous decision, dropping Cruz on multiple occasions and nearly finishing him in the fourth round. Both participants were awarded Fight of the Night for their performance.

Who do you think Garbrandt should face next? Let us know in the comment section below.

Jose Aldo Confirms Max Holloway Title Match For UFC 208 https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-confirms-max-holloway-title-match-ufc-208/114319/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-confirms-max-holloway-title-match-ufc-208/114319/#respond Tue, 13 Dec 2016 22:49:51 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=114319 Over the weekend, Max Holloway became the interim UFC featherweight champion at UFC 206, which technically entitled him for a shot at the real belt in the near future.

Following an interview with the media in Brazil, Jose Aldo, who is currently the true featherweight champion pretty much confirmed Holloway as his next opponent on February 11 at UFC 208.

He’s saying ‘where’s Aldo?’, you have to talk to the UFC. About the fight in February, I already knew that, I only didn’t know who I would fight. It was between him and Pettis, whoever won the fight. It’s not something new. This fight will happen on Feb. 11.

In July 2016, Aldo defeated Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight belt, but the tagged was ultimately removed when the UFC stripped Conor McGregor of the belt. The interim tag was then attached to the Holloway vs. Pettis match up at UFC 206 in Toronto. Holloway dominated Anthony Pettis, finishing the former lightweight champion in the third by TKO.

Holloway called out Aldo during the post-fight press conference,

Where’s Jose Waldo? Let me know when you find him. Team work [makes] the dream work. If more of us can look for him, we’re going to find him together. We’ll see what happens.

Jose Aldo Wants Release From The UFC, Won’t Change His Mind For Anything https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-release-ufc-change-mind/112569/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-release-ufc-change-mind/112569/#respond Tue, 04 Oct 2016 13:58:12 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=112569 Jose Aldo has waited over six months for a rematch with Conor McGregor, who took over the featherweight division from him in 13 seconds at UFC 194 in December 2015.

That was Aldo’s first loss ever inside the UFC cage. A fighter so dominate and once named the pound-for-pound king in the world deserved an instant rematch. However, it never came to fruition even after defeating Frankie Edgar for the interim title at UFC 200.

Last week, Aldo finally had enough with the promotion and requested his release from the UFC. According to the former Brazilian champion, he wouldn’t change his mind even if an offer to rematch Conor McGregor was recently made.

Aldo said,

No. Not even that because that would be the right thing to happen. This fight is the fight that should happen next in the featherweight division. I conquered that [right] ever since I entered the UFC. I saw other champions losing and fighting right away for the belt. That was the right thing.

He added,

I didn’t fight for the belt. They made me fight for the interim title, I went there and won, and still have no definition whatsoever. To me, not even a fight with McGregor… It’s not about him being fighting now or not. I don’t care where he’s going. I want to follow my path. Today, the right is me getting released from the contract.

The UFC has not commented on the situation yet, but we believe they will announce something very soon. So stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for the updates.

Jose Aldo Wants His Release From The UFC Following UFC 205 Presser https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-released-ufc-ufc-205/112375/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/jose-aldo-released-ufc-ufc-205/112375/#respond Wed, 28 Sep 2016 00:12:02 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=112375 Following the massive UFC 205 press conference today in New York City featuring headliners Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, former featherweight champion Jose Aldo has requested to be released from the UFC.

Clearly upset with the promotion for not honoring him a deserved rematch with McGregor, Aldo wants out and no longer believes in UFC president Dana White after being “fooled” many times.

Aldo said,

Conor himself said before that he wouldn’t give his belt away by any chance and nobody would take it away from him. After all this, I see I can’t trust any word from President Dana White, and who’s in charge of the promotion now is Conor McGregor. Since I’m not here to be an employee of McGregor, today I ask to cancel my contract with the UFC. When they offered me a fight with Frankie Edgar, Dana said that the winner would challenge McGregor or win the linear title, that he would lose his belt if he didn’t return to the featherweight division after his rematch with Nate Diaz. After being fooled so many times, I don’t feel motivated to fight in the UFC anymore.

On Tuesday, White stated that McGregor would have to vacate one of the two belts if he beats Alvarez on November 12 in NYC, but Aldo doesn’t believe a word.

I don’t believe in Dana saying that Conor would have to vacate one of the belts after UFC 205 because, based on what we’re seeing, this type of decision is not in his hands anymore, Conor makes the calls now. And the biggest proof that who’s in charge in the UFC now is Conor is that when I wanted to move up to fight Pettis, they said I’d have to vacate my belt and try this fight with no title whatsoever. But with him, they let him move up to the division above without losing his belt, and also let him do any fight he wants. I understand that he sells a lot, but it gets to a limit when it’s no longer a sport, it becomes a circus. I don’t want any type of fight with the UFC. The only thing I want is to go on with my life, and they will go on with theirs.

Are you surprised in Aldo’s latest move with the UFC? Let us know the comment section below.
