Massacre, a film from writer/star Pandie Suicide, has gone into pre-production! And they’ve just cast the film’s first actor. “Who?” you ask. It’s none other than London May (pictured below, left) of Samhain, drummer of the soon-to-be-reunited post-Misfits/pre-Danzig Glenn Danzig era. Yup, apparently the musician is also a talented and trained actor in both improv and theater. And once again, this proves that horror and heavy metal go together like blood and machetes.

london may and danzigAfter recently making his Los Angeles stage debut in The Duchess of Malfi, London May has signed on to play the detective and to be directed by Joe Hendrick (Ditch Day Massacre, Skitta Merink) in the “bloody horror short” Massacre.

Hendrick commented on the casting of London May:

London May was in character the moment we shook hands for the first time in the parking lot – it was clear he had done his homework. With every question of detail, every question regarding character quirks, London May either gave me the answer I had been looking to hear or an answer that showed me this guy is going to bring more to the table than what I can with this character… When I hire an actor I want to hire someone that I can collaborate with – someone that I can trust – and London May is an actor who I immediately knew I could trust to become this character.

Produced by Michel Rangel (Smiley, Instructions Not Included), Massacre centers around Marianne James — played by New Zealand actress, writer and SuicideGirl Pandie Suicide (Ditch Day Massacre, David Lynch’s “Crazy Clown Time”) — a young woman who wakes up at the site of a grisly mass murder and can’t remember what happened. This unique film, which is currently prepping to go into production this July via Minonina Films, features both a female writer, as well as a female producer and will see the lead female role taking a slight departure from a more traditional female horror role.

Indeed, this is a horror short to anticipate.

Massacre – A Bloody Horror Short https://www.yellmagazine.com/massacre-bloody-horror-short/81030/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/massacre-bloody-horror-short/81030/#comments Wed, 26 Mar 2014 03:31:14 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=81030 massacre photo with pandie suicide

It’s well-documented that we here at Yell! Magazine love horror films. We also love following an independent movie project from its early stages; there’s just something special about it. It’s pretty rare, however, to catch wind of something before a trailer or production stills hit the Internet. But that’s just what we’ve done here: we’ve tapped a vein and the blood shall cometh.

What we’ve landed on is Massacre, which the makers are calling “a bloody horror short,” and judging from the synopsis (see below) it sounds like a chainsaw severing limbs at full RPM (i.e., it sounds splat-tastic). It’s also absolutely amazing where this horror short spawned — from the demented mind of Pandie Suicide who calls home the land where J.R.R. Tolkien’s Hobbiton came to life (New Zealand).

Written by and starring metalhead horror-hound Pandie, Massacre is being directed by Joe Hendrick, who’s directed music videos for the likes of Korn and Marilyn Manson; shorts Women of the Night, Zipperneck-Kid, Skitta Merink, and Worst, and directed the feature-film Ditch Day Massacre. Michel Rangel (Smiley, Instructions Not Included) will produce.

While Massacre is currently in development in Los Angeles, it needs your help (i.e., money). As of today, March 25th, there are 25 days left to make your contribution at www.indiegogo.com. Their goal right now is to hit $4,500. Depending on how much you contribute, there are various perks for your taking. Who knows, maybe you could be among the bloody and mutilated massacred!

Massacre Synopsis:

Massacre is a brief and bloody horror flick, centering around Marianne James (played by Pandie Suicide), a girl who wakes up at the site of a very grisly mass murder, and can’t remember what happened.

We’ll keep you posted as Massacre develops, but you can also stalk the filmmakers and film at www.massacrethemovie.com and on Twitter and Facebook.

Massacre Invoke Deathklok In Their New Video For “Back From Beyond” https://www.yellmagazine.com/massacre-invoke-deathklok-video-back-from-beyond/80078/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/massacre-invoke-deathklok-video-back-from-beyond/80078/#comments Wed, 12 Mar 2014 19:47:43 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=80078 Floridian Death Metal pioneers, Massacre, are back with a new full-length album in 20 years. Scheduled to hit North American shelves on April 1, 2014, Back from Beyond is no fucking joke — even if the album’s debut video for the title track does look to be inspired by Dethklok. Of course we understand that not everything that combines heavy metal and cartoons is related to Dethklok, which is cool, Massacre could have just as easily been inspired by Scooby-Doo for this. There is a van in the video after all.

massacre back from beyond cover artAt any rate, Decibel Magazine has called Back from Beyond, “pure Florida death metal, the way it was meant to be played from the Sunshine State.” If you don’t believe that, then check out the video and track in the player above, and prepare to have your ears raped.

The video for “Back From Beyond” was directed by Doug Cook and animated by Nick Johnson and Ryder McLean. Terry Butler (bass) comments:

[We're] very proud of the ‘Back From Beyond’ video. It has a nice campy horror vibe, yet at the same time is cutting-edge, and we think it can connect with a variety of audiences. Doug Cook did an amazing job with this one!!!

That’s right, this video definitely has a horror vibe. As you’ll see, it features Massacre arriving at and playing a show. The fans are having a great time… until vampires strike. By some occult force, Massacre summons a beast from beyond (see what I did there?), which then kills everyone but the band. In the end, Massacre plays for a pile of corpses. Blood and metal unite!
