Tate lost the match to Pennington via a decisive unanimous decision. In the UFC 205 post-fight Octagon interview with Joe Rogan, Tate officially announced her retirement from mixed martial arts. “It’s not my time right now, I’ve been doing this for over a decade. Thank you so much for being here, I love this sport forever but it’s not my time anymore.”

But before announcing her retirement to the world, the UFC cameras caught a glimpse of her disappointment and lack of desire to fight right after the third-round.

Tate said,

I’m not showing up in here anymore, I don’t care enough.

Caraway replied: You show up in practice.

I just, I don’t have it anymore.

Tate, 30, made her UFC debut in April 2013 against Cat Zingano. She finally the won the UFC belt earlier this year against Holly Holm, but lost to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, who currently remains the champion.

In addition, Tate also talked about her longtime rival Ronda Rousey and called her an “awful pouty” about her knockout loss to Holm at UFC 193.

Tate said,

I’m not saying she won’t come back, I just don’t know if she’ll come back the same, because she seems awful pouty about the loss and we’ve all had losses. You either get up and get back on the horse and come back stronger for it or you sit out for over a year.

Without trying to overlook Nunes, Tate said her sights are still fully focused on her Brazilian opponent because if she loses then a trilogy fight with Rousey won’t happen.

Right now I’m trying to really stay focused on Amanda and I know everyone is excited for that Rousey fight, I hope that’s something that happens. But I don’t want to overlook Amanda, because if I don’t beat Amanda there’s no next.

What about Ronda’s mentality? I think Ronda is beating herself up over this. I mean, she previously said that she’s so emotional to the point where she’s considering crazy things. It’s like, this is a broken woman. I don’t know if she’ll ever come back the same. But I have proven that I can come back from adversity and I do come back and I will come back. And there’s no one in this sport that can break me. I have the strongest mindset of anybody in there. I don’t know where Ronda is with her mindset, but I have to wonder. According to MMA Fighting, it sounds like the Irish sensation Conor McGregor is moving up to lightweight and will challenge Rafael dos Anjos for the title in the main event of UFC 197 on March 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, confirmed sources are also saying Holly Holm will make her first bantamweight title defense against former STRIKEFORE champion Miesha Tate in the co-main event.

The UFC has made an official announcement nor has confirmed the fights mentioned above, which were originally reported by Lance, a Brazilian outlet, and Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter.

After dethroning former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in November, Holly Holm quickly became the new face of women’s MMA, which took her only a year to achieve in the UFC. Besides all the amazing new perks of being a UFC champion, Holm will also be enjoying her lucrative new UFC contract this year.

According to today’s edition of the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Holm revealed that she just inked a fresh contract and that she’s ready to fight sooner than later. Meaning Holm doesn’t want to wait until the summer or later for a rematch with Rousey.

Holm said,

If I fight sooner rather than later, it won’t be a rematch. But there’s still a possibility for a rematch. …We’ll wait and see how it unfolds.

Apparently, the UFC will be officially announcing her first title defense shortly.

Holm added,

I just don’t want to wait around for things if they’re not set in stone. A lot of people have been talking about the rematch, but nobody really knows for sure. I haven’t really heard if she really wants it yet or not or if she’s occupied with some other things right now. I think that’s the hardest part for me. … I don’t want to wait around for something that may not happen. I want to be able to fight soon. I like being active, because I love the sport.

There’s good speculation that Holm could face Miesha Tate early in 2016. And Holm insists the announcement will be “soon.”

I need to know for myself, for my career, what my next move is going to be, and I have some more demands that I want to make. I realize that Ronda is making a lot, and I just feel like when I walk out for my weigh-ins, when I walk out for my fights, I have an amazing fanbase. They really always show their love and appreciation, and you can tell that I have the loudest crowd response pretty much of anyone fighting on the card, besides Ronda of course. But when it’s a card by myself, I always have a huge crowd response. I have a tremendous fanbase, and I don’t think any of us really want retirement to be the situation. After all the talk and promises from UFC President Dana White, Miesha Tate won’t be getting her trilogy fight with Ronda Rousey in January. Instead, Rousey will be defending the title against Holly Holm at UFC 195. It was a surprising change that “absolutely shocked” Tate and her manager Josh Jones of KHI Management, but now a new fight is brewing between her and a recent former title challenger.

As soon as Rousey announced her fight with Holm on Friday, Bethe Correia started throwing jabs at Tate on Twitter, and she explained on Saturday via MMA Fighting why she wants to fight the former STRIKEFORCE champion.

She mocked me when I lost because she thought she would be fighting Ronda, so I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to mock her back, She called me rookie, but always wanted to fight me, campaigned on Twitter in the past. Who wants to fight a rookie? It would be terrible to get beat up by a rookie.

Apparently, White also promised Correia that her next fight would be with a top 5 contender in the bantamweight division after her loss against Rousey earlier this month in Rio de Janeiro.

When the fight was over, I asked Dana to fight a top 5 next. He congratulated me for the job I did because we got a good media for the fight, and the good thing is that everything I did, I did from the bottom of my heart. He said he would give me this fight [against a top 5]. Wallid (Ismail) is negotiating my next fight now.

Tate called out Correia in February 2015.

I really want to fight Tate because we have something unfinished for a long time, Correia said. I hate Ronda, and after her the one I dislike the most is Tate. I have unfinished things with her.
