Last week, Texas platinum hard rock quartet Drowning Pool kicked off their U.S. tour celebrating the “Unlucky 13th Anniversary” of the release of their seminal debut record, Sinner, which features the chart-topping hard rock anthem, “Bodies.” In celebration of 13 years, the band is performing Sinner it its entirety at each tour stop, followed by their other hits. Special VIP Meet and Greet packages are available now here.

In a band statement, Drowning Pool says:

Sinner represents that amazing time in Drowning Pool’s career when things really started to take off. It reminds us of that raw energy and excitement we had when we first got our music out there… when we first started touring worldwide. For us to be able to play the whole Sinner record for our fans is such a great opportunity. Especially for all of the newer Drowning Pool fans who know about the original Sinner days with the late great Dave Williams, but never got to see that show. It’s a great chance for them to see us how we first started. And Jasen Moreno is heading up center stage. He has been our friend throughout this whole journey, his time, dedication, and respect to the Drowning Pool fans shines through every night at every show. Don’t miss it! We’re stoked to continue our journey of celebrating older and newer Drowning Pool music. See you at the show!

See the list of tour dates below.

In conjunction with the tour, The Bicycle Music Company/Concord is releasing a special two-disc Sinner Unlucky 13th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. This special edition includes 13 tracks of demos, remixes, and two unreleased tracks. The special-edition release will be available on November 11, 2014. The expanded reissue of Sinner, originally released on in 2001, represents the definitive version of Drowning Pool’s classic Dave Williams years, whose untimely death in 2002 at the too-early age of 30 marked an unlucky end to a rising star.

Pre-order Sinner Unlucky 13th Anniversary Deluxe Edition on CD.

Chimaira Drops “All That’s Left Is Blood” – New Album Out Today https://www.yellmagazine.com/chimaira-all-thats-left-is-blood-crown-of-phantoms/62839/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/chimaira-all-thats-left-is-blood-crown-of-phantoms/62839/#comments Tue, 30 Jul 2013 15:18:13 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=62839 Chimaira debuted their brand new video for “All That’s Left Is Blood” yesterday. The track comes off the band’s latest release, Crown of Phantoms, which is out today. If you like what you hear, order it via Amazon:
CD – $7.99
MP3 – $7.99

If you’re interested in the deluxe edition, which comes with a bonus DVD, visit: www.thirddegreemerch.com

Crown of Phantoms is the first Chimaira album to feature Austin D’Amond (drums), Jeremy Creamer (bass), Sean Zatorsky (keyboards), Emil Werstler (lead guitar), and Matt Szlachta (rhythm guitar), who all joined the band in 2011 and 2012. As you will see if you visit the video on Youtube, there’s a lot of debate about the sound of the song, and whether or not you can “look metal” headbanging on the keyboard.

What do you think of the new track?

Chimaira is currently on tour with Threat Signal, The Browning, and Dark Sermon. Check out the full list of dates on the band’s Facebook page.

Until Dawn’s New Video, “This Fallen Fortress,” Plays Into Stereotypes https://www.yellmagazine.com/until-dawn-this-fallen-fortress-video/62581/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/until-dawn-this-fallen-fortress-video/62581/#comments Sat, 27 Jul 2013 16:37:59 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=62581 A Canadian band playing in the forest while snow comes down… it doesn’t get much more stereotypical than that. OK, well, I guess they could be eating maple syrup and salt & vinegar chips. Until Dawn‘s new video for “This Fallen Fortress” also features a growing team of hooded assailants who are, presumably, collecting the band members in a violent manner as they work menial jobs.

Given the lyrical meaning of the song, finding strength to overcome any life challenge, I’m not sure how the visuals reinforce that. Nonetheless, it’s entertaining and at least it’s not simply the band playing in the woods.

until dawn tour posterIn additional news, Until Dawn have announced they will be touring this August for ‘The Alberta Horizon Crusade Tour’, which will include a performance at this year’s Farmageddon Festival and Loud As Hell Festival.

Until Dawn Release “This Fallen Fortress” From Horizon https://www.yellmagazine.com/untio-dawn-this-fallen-fortress/60768/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/untio-dawn-this-fallen-fortress/60768/#comments Mon, 08 Jul 2013 15:35:03 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=60768 until dawn

until dawn

Hailing from Fort McMurray, Alberta (that’s way up in the Northern regions of Canada and cold), Until Dawn is just about set to unleash their sophomore album, Horizon. The album comes out August 6th, and until then fans can be appeased with a free download of their first single “This Fallen Fortress.” You can also stream it here:

The track does an excellent job of capturing the raw energy of Until Dawn’s refined modern metal. With a wicked bass line and a bouncing chug-chug rhythm, “This Fallen Fortress” is essentially about finding strength to overcome any life challenge. It’s melodic and heavy, but it does teeter more on the hard rock, active radio side of the metal spectrum than the death metal side… but it’s still more real than metalcore.

Horizon track listing:

1. Roamers And Lurkers
2. Strings Of The Dammed
3. The Red Sun Rises This Day
4. Third Knee
5. This Fallen Fortress
6. A Conjurer Of Cheap Tricks
7. DNR
8. Time Tested Fortune
9. The Trial
10. Polar Parallels
11. Horizon
12. WM3
13. Richard

Methods of Mayhem: A Public Disservice Announcement https://www.yellmagazine.com/methods-mayhem-a-public-disservice-announcement/188/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/methods-mayhem-a-public-disservice-announcement/188/#comments Tue, 05 Oct 2010 03:23:59 +0000 https://yellmagazine.com/index-temp.php/?p=188 Yell! Review:

Tommy Lee’s Methods of Mayhem released their second album, A Public Disservice Announcement, and if you heard the self-titled debut album and liked it, you’ll probably like this one too — of course the opposite is true too.

Yes, Tommy Lee is a legend and should be applauded for taking risks and experimenting (for this Methods of Mayhem album he actually combed through more than 10,000 public submissions to incorporate into and complete the demos that were made public), but that’s no excuse for releasing this nauseating and, ultimately, repetitive work that seems to have been inspired by watching The Hills. Honestly, the more Lee dabbles in his nu metal/rap metal interest, the more credibility he loses.

Methods of Mayhem took their time getting to a song with a pair of balls; four tracks deep “Fight Song” is the only record on the 11-track album that comes anywhere near resembling a rock song. Key lyric in this song that might see the octagon someday: “When I see your face I wanna fuck it up.” “Party Instructions” might be the only other track with any aggro in it, but it’s about as close to metal as a hooker is to a clean STD screening.

The rest of A Public Disservice Announcement is filler and a desperate attempt to maintain relevance in a musical landscape that’s drastically changed since Motley Crue were at the top. However, there are two other songs that might appeal to haute couture, as they seem to have been written for the fashion world. “All I Wanna Do” elicits images of models walking down the runway and one synth part brings Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” to mind. Same thing with “Back To Before,” only the intro is reminiscent of Mother Love Bone’s “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns.”

Verdict: Unless you’re a Tommy Lee fanatic, which is far more likely than being someone who loves Methods of Mayhem, pass on A Public Disservice Announcement — it’s weak and boring.
