Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans isn’t a happy camper anymore as he has been officially pulled from UFC 205.

Following a medical test conducted by the New York State Athletic Commission, an undisclosed issue came up in Evans’ testing, forcing him to pull out of his middleweight debut against Tim Kennedy. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Evans didn’t reveal the exact medical issue, but made it clear he is “disappointed.”

Evans said

I’m disappointed, I’m healthy. I don’t want anyone worrying about me. I’m fine, physically speaking. Never felt better. It’s just the commission and their rules. I guess they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to this.

The 37 year-old UFC veteran was initially slated to fight on November 12th after losing two straight fights to Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader, respectively. Evans plans on returning in the very near future.

Stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for much more coverage on UFC 205.

UFC 205: Tim Kennedy Says Rashad’s “Chin Has Diminished” https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-205-tim-kennedy-rashads-chin-diminished/112528/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-205-tim-kennedy-rashads-chin-diminished/112528/#respond Sun, 02 Oct 2016 17:06:35 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=112528 Besides an epic headliner between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, the New York City fight card features a middleweight clash between former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy, a bout not to be missed by any fight fans.

As many already know both fighters have been away from the cage for quite some time, but Kennedy still feels his advantage over Evans is his chin. Over the years, Kennedy believe Evans’ chin has “diminished” and can’t take shots like he used to.

Kennedy said,

No, his chin has diminished. You know, he can’t take the shots he used to. His wrestling, you know, Ryan Bader exposed that he hasn’t been putting the work in. He knows I’m going to be moving forward as a wrestler, he knows I’m going to come forward with big heavy hands, so if there is a moment where he makes a mistake, I’m going to capitalize on it and hurt him. And if I touch his chin or put him on his back, he has a fight, and we’re going to be in both of those positions. So no, he’s not the same fighter he was when he knocked out Chuck Liddell. And I’m the same fighter if not better then I was 5 years ago, so November 12 is going to be tough fight for him.

Despite the advantage, Kennedy thinks fighting Evans is like coming back for a super fight, which is exactly what he wants.

I wouldn’t have come back for anything less than anything gigantic, monumental, you know, like historic and fighting Rashad who is a former champion, who is coming down to 185, that itself is a huge deal you know. Getting to fight Rashad at 185 for the first time in his career it’s huge. That’s almost a super fight, and then for it to be at Madison Square Garden, at the first event in New York, that’s almost too good to pass up. And then, you pile on top of that, you know, Michael Bisping being the champion, a new company owning the UFC.

UFC 205 will be held on November 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

QOTD: Rashad Evans Predicts That Anthony Johnson Will KO Jon Jones In The First Two Rounds https://www.yellmagazine.com/qotd-rashad-evans-predicts-anthony-johnson-ko-jon-jones-rounds/95667/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/qotd-rashad-evans-predicts-anthony-johnson-ko-jon-jones-rounds/95667/#respond Sat, 07 Feb 2015 17:48:36 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=95667 Anthony Johnson

I think that if they start exchanging, which they will, because AJ brings a lot of pressure, he’ll knock him out. I’ll say within the first two rounds for sure, to say like that makes it sound like I don’t have any respect for Jon Jones and what he’s done as far as being a champion. But let’s be honest here, what it comes down to is punching power, this kid can really hit. – Rashad Evans

If I ever did anything like that, it would be after I finished fighting, and I’m not gonna (sic) be done fighting for at least four years, I had a million people asking me if I was retiring for wrestling, but honestly speaking, if I didn’t get seriously paid to do it I wouldn’t do it,” Evans said. “I think it would be disrespectful to my legacy in the UFC if I didn’t do a deal that would make sense where I got paid! Besides, that s**t is harder on my body than fighting. – Rashad Evans

Rashad Evans Out Of UFC 170 Co-Main Event https://www.yellmagazine.com/rashad-evans-ufc-170-co-main-event-chael-sonnen-step-in/78404/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/rashad-evans-ufc-170-co-main-event-chael-sonnen-step-in/78404/#respond Thu, 13 Feb 2014 16:35:19 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=78404 Rashad Evans

UFC 170 was shaping up to be an amazing fight card for 2014, until yesterday, after the UFC officially announced that Rashad Evans is out of the co-main event against former Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier. According to UFC President Dana White, Evans suffered a knee injury in training and will require at least four weeks of physical rehabilitation.

Because the event is less than two weeks away from fight night, Cormier was also forced to pull out since a replacement opponent could not be found in time. In an interview with MMA Fighting, Cormier expressed that he is “very sad” that he won’t be competing in a new weight class on February 22nd:

It’s very sad. I’ve had to do a lot of things different for this camp because of the weight, having to make this weight for the first time healthy and where I’m well enough conditioned. It’s more than just training for a fight. It’s all the other things I had to take into consideration. It’s a completely different situation.

It appears that TUF: Brazil Coach Chael Sonnen stepped up to the plate to face Cormier at UFC 170, but there’s still no word from the UFC yet, if they even took him into consideration.

Ya know I haven’t been crazy about your attitude as of late. Daddy ain’t ready, but he’s ready enough. February 22nd just say my name, Sonnen tweeted to Cormier yesterday.

Evans is expected to fight Cormier at a future date. We’ll keep you guys updated on that bout when it’s officially announced by the UFC. So, stay tuned to Yell! Magazine.

Chael Sonnen Talks TUF: Brazil, Assistant Coach, And More [VIDEO] https://www.yellmagazine.com/chael-sonnen-talks-tuf-brazil-assistant-coach-video/71402/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/chael-sonnen-talks-tuf-brazil-assistant-coach-video/71402/#respond Mon, 28 Oct 2013 14:42:51 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=71402 UFC 167 is approaching fast that will feature a bout between Chael Sonnen (29–13–1) and Rashad Evans (20-3-1) in the co-main event of the evening in Las Vegas, Nevada. Oddly, at a recent presser in Manchester, England, Sonnen spent more time talking about his upcoming coaching gig opposite Wanderlei Silva on the next TUF: Brazil, having Anderson Silva as assistant coach, another rematch with Silva, and Jon Jones, just to name a few. There’s very little talk about his fight with Evans. My feeling is this one is sliding under the radar since the fight with Wanderlei is a lot more appealing to MMA fans in both the U.S. and Brazil.

But before that fight happens, Sonnen and Evans need to settle business first inside the Octagon. Both are coming off a win, Sonnen replaced Antônio Rogério Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 26, defeating Maurício Rua by guillotine choke submission in the first round. Evans had a less impressive win over Dan Henderson at UFC 161, winning by split decision.

Don’t miss their matchup at UFC 167 that will be held on November 16, 2013.
