Besides appearing in more films and her recent guest role on NBC’s Blindspot, Rousey will also star in a TV reboot. That’s right! On Tuesday, it was announced by Disney that the former UFC superstar will be leading a team of athletes on ABC’s reboot of Battle of the Network Stars. According to the announcement, former NFL star DeMarcus Ware will be on the opposite sideline to Rousey while ESPN’s Mike Greenberg and Joe Tessitore are set to host the TV show.

Battle of the Network Stars is expected to be a 10-episode show, which will begin airing on June 29th on ABC and will feature 100 TV stars from 14 different networks, much like the original ’70s and ’80s version of the show.

Rousey, 30, was last seen inside the Octagon against current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. She lost the fight via TKO due to punches at just 48 seconds into the first round of the title fight. Initially, “Rowdy” lost the belt in her first professional MMA loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 despite being a heavy betting favorite.

At the moment, there’s absolutely no signs of her returning to the UFC.

Conor McGregor Continues To Be A “Big Supporter” Of Ronda Rousey https://www.yellmagazine.com/conor-mcgregor-continues-support-ronda-rousey/115698/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/conor-mcgregor-continues-support-ronda-rousey/115698/#respond Sun, 05 Feb 2017 18:00:03 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=115698 There’s no doubt now that UFC lightweight kingpin Conor McGregor continues to be a “big supporter” of Ronda Rousey, who recently experienced her second shocking loss in the Octagon at the very end of 2016.

Besides her unsuccessful comeback against Amanda Nunes, her critics, MMA fans, and few fighters continue to celebrate her downfall on social media and through other forms of online sources. But the Irish sensation doesn’t appear to support any of it, in fact he believe everyone who celebrated her UFC 207 outcome is “weak.”

Last week in Manchester McGregor said,

When Ronda lost, I woke up to all these messages. ‘Now let’s see what they do.’ And I’m like, what? I love Ronda, I was always a big supporter of Ronda.

Then she loses that second one and people are trying to make me celebrate, ‘now they’ve got nobody.’ That’s a wrong mindset. I don’t celebrate another’s defeat like that. That’s weak. A weak individual does that. People were trying to celebrate when I lost who had nothing to do with it. That ain’t the sign of a champion. That ain’t the sign of a true champion, so I couldn’t believe it.

MMA observers now believe McGregor has more leverage than ever since the UFC just lost their second biggest draw within the promotion. Rousey’s last two fights had well over 1 million pay-per-view buys, while McGregor continues to hit over 1.2 million consecutively.

McGregor currently has negotiation powers in the UFC for his successfully business strategies and also has opportunities in the world of boxing, potentially facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. at some point in the near future.

Returning to not just fighting, but winning, was my entire focus this past year. However, sometimes — even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly — it doesn’t work how you planned.

A few days ago, Rousey’s mother AnnMaria De Mars also expressed her thoughts on the fight and most importantly, her daughter who helped pioneer women’s MMA.

Rousey lost the championship via TKO due to punches at just 48 seconds into the first round. UFC 207 took place on December 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

For Rousey’s full statement continue reading right below.

Ronda Rousey’s Full UFC 207 Statement

I want to say thank you to all of my fans who have been there for me in not only the greatest moments but in the most difficult ones. Words cannot convey how much your love and support means to me.

Returning to not just fighting, but winning, was my entire focus this past year. However, sometimes — even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly — it doesn’t work how you planned. I take pride in seeing how far the women’s division has come in the UFC and commend all the other women who have been part of making this possible, including Amanda.

I need to take some time to reflect and think about the future. Thank you for believing in me and understanding.

UFC 207: Ronda Rousey’s Mom Releases Statement After Loss https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-207-ronda-rouseys-mom-release-statement-loss/114781/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ufc-207-ronda-rouseys-mom-release-statement-loss/114781/#respond Sat, 31 Dec 2016 15:44:21 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=114781 Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey avoided any media obligations for UFC 207, and it looks like she won’t be doing any after her loss against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 last night.

For those of you who watched the Pay-Per-View event, saw Rousey get destroyed by the Brazilian champion. Nunes successfully defended the UFC Bantamweight Championship against the returning MMA superstar where she won in the first round at 48 seconds via TKO in the main event of UFC 207.

Following the loss, Rousey stormed out of the Octagon and skipped the UFC 207 post-fight press conference. However her mother, AnnMaria De Mars, who has been very vocal about her disapproval of Rousey’s head coach Edmond Tarverdyan, released an official statement through her personal blog.

All of those who have criticized Ronda for taking a loss so to heart, for not just ‘shrugging it off’ don’t understand that what made Ronda so successful is that she cares DEEPLY about winning to an extent that I don’t believe the average person can wrap his/her head around.

Her full statement can be read right below.

Official Statement From AnnMaria De Mars

Like every mother and daughter on the face of the earth, Ronda and I don’t always see eye to eye. However, there is one situation where I am pretty certain.

All of those who have criticized Ronda for taking a loss so to heart, for not just ‘shrugging it off’ don’t understand that what made Ronda so successful is that she cares DEEPLY about winning to an extent that I don’t believe the average person can wrap his/her head around.

Caring deeply about something and working your hardest to achieve it doesn’t mean you make the right decisions 100% of the time. Wouldn’t it be a nicer world if it did?

Those of you who want to criticize Ronda, I just want to point out a few things. First of all, I know her better than you and she is a smart, kind, talented, generous, hard-working person.

Second, I’d like to list some of her accomplishments, and note that she isn’t yet 30 years old:

– Junior World Judo Champion
– Panamerican Games Judo Gold Medalist
– First American woman in a decade to win a world cup in judo (and then she went on to win several more)
– U.S. Open Gold Medalist
– World Judo Championships Silver Medalist
– Olympic Bronze Medalist
– U.S. Senior National Champion
– First UFC World Champion
– First woman to make a million dollars in martial arts
– Co-authored sports book of the year – My Fight/ Your Fight
– Acted in three movies

That’s just a partial list, but let me suggest that someone who has been world level athlete in two sports, written a best seller, acted in movies and made millions of dollars, all before the age of 30 has a pretty darn good track record. On top of that, Ronda has been part of the USADA drug testing since she was 16 years old, never failed a drug test, always paid her taxes, never been arrested, never been to rehab, has zero divorces, zero DUIs and zero children. While you might think that is to be expected, look how many celebrities (heck, look how many of your neighbors) can say that.

I am very proud of my daughter.

During an appearance on The Ellen Show, Rousey’s first interview since announcing her return, she specifically talked about the buildup for UFC 207, which appears to be her least favorite part in the fight business. In addition, the 29-year old Rousey also mentioned UFC 207 could be her last fight in MMA.

Rousey said,

Not that long, I’m wrapping it up. This is definitely one of my last fights.

So everyone better watch. The show isn’t going to be around forever.

Rousey was last seen in the Octagon on November 15, 2015 against Holly Holm. She lost the fight via knockout in the second round at UFC 193. She has been on a 13 months hiatus and will now face the Brazilian Amada Nunes for the UFC bantamweight title.

Ronda Rousey To Return For A Title Shot At UFC 207 https://www.yellmagazine.com/ronda-rousey-return-title-shot-ufc-207/112784/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/ronda-rousey-return-title-shot-ufc-207/112784/#respond Thu, 13 Oct 2016 01:08:40 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=112784 The word is officially out on Ronda Rousey. It’s been almost an entire year since Rousey lost the bantamweight belt to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. She is finally ready to make her first comeback in the UFC.

UFC President Dana White announced the news via “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday. According to White, Rousey will challenge current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in Las Vegas. It sounds like the 135-pound fight is set as the headliner of the year-end event. Nunes recently took the belt from Miesha Tate at UFC 200. Nunes stunned Tate early on via punches and then won the fight by submission (rear-naked choke) in the first round.

A heavyweight rematch between former UFC Heavyweight Champions, Fabrício Werdum and Cain Velasquez is also expected to take place on the card and serve as the co-main event. The pairing met previously in June 2015 at UFC 188, with Werdum unifying the title, as he won the fight via submission in the third round.

UFC 207: Nunes vs. Rousey will take place on December 30, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas.

Dana White Confirms Ronda Rousey Is The Biggest UFC Star Ever https://www.yellmagazine.com/dana-white-confirms-ronda-rousey-biggest-ufc-star/112555/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/dana-white-confirms-ronda-rousey-biggest-ufc-star/112555/#respond Mon, 03 Oct 2016 21:55:38 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=112555 Where is Ronda Rousey? We’ll folks it’s obvious she is running after her movie career in Hollywood while she still can. At the moment, MMA seems to be just an afterthought for the former bantamweight champion.

However, rumor is she expected to possibly return at the end of year. Perhaps, the December fight card against Amanda Nunes? Nobody knows for sure when, not even UFC President Dana White. But we do know White is actively trying to get his “biggest star” back inside the Octagon. That’s right! White believes Rousey is still the biggest star in his company’s history.

During an interview with Hot 97 White said,

By far. Not even close, by far the biggest star ever.

He also added,

Ronda Rousey is such a big star that when you go down to Brazil – I don’t know if you guys have watched any of the fights we do from Brazil — they don’t care who you are. They want the Brazilian to whoop your ass. When Ronda went down there, they cheered for Ronda over the Brazilian. Never seen that before in my life and will probably never see it again. That’s how big Ronda Rousey is.

According to multiple MMA sources, Rousey is currently back and training for a bantamweight title shot. When she does come back to fight, she’ll have to do quite a lot of media stir to beat the pay-per-view buy rate of UFC 205, which is headlined by Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez.

Do you agree with White, is Rousey still the biggest UFC star?
