Lizzy Borden has spent over three decades creating some of the most theatrical metal in existence, releasing classics such as Love You to Pieces (1985) and Master of Disguise (1989), while obliterating audiences worldwide with a stage show that rivals that of Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper. For his efforts, he has become nothing short of a metal icon. Now, to take the next step in furthering his career, Lizzy Borden has signed a worldwide solo artist deal with Metal Blade Records — the label that helped to launch him to commercial success over 30 years ago. Ready to once again captivate both veteran and adolescent metal fans alike, Lizzy Borden plans to release a new album in 2016, and tour the world in support of it, with a reinvigorated band backing him up.

Lizzy Borden comments:

I am extremely happy to re-sign with the same label we started with all those years ago [Metal Blade Records]. I’m excited to be working with Brian Slagel and all the Metal Blade family again. It’s been my home for all six of our (full-length) studio albums — with the new record being the seventh, and the start of a new series of albums to come. My focus for the last several years has been performing live and exposing my brand of American metal to countries all over the world. Now I feel is the right time to step back and push the re-start button. Time to get back to the art of creating new music. Touring around the world and having new fans discover Lizzy Borden for the first time has been rejuvenating, and so a new album seems like the perfect way to bridge the past with the future. I will take this part of my journey and these next series of albums as a solo artist, as I have for some of the past LB records and tours. I look forward to working with many different established musicians and friends, as well as some undiscovered talent like we have been lucky enough to unearth in the past. To all of our fans that have followed Lizzy Borden from the beginning and all the new younger fans who have just discovered us, I hope you will come along with me for this next chapter. I am inspired, excited, and ready to begin again.

About Bleed:

Bringing horror, mayhem, and pain through a medium that brushes on brutal death metal, Bleed’s live show combines costumed performances with crushing, groovy thrash peppered with blood. The band pays homage to theatrical metal kings, GWAR, through their own original material and costume design. They guarantee that fans will be chanting along with their grotesque lyrics from such songs as “Committed” complete with appropriate props to accompany much of the material they write.

The blood-covered four piece is comprised of Ron (guitarist), Rob (vocalist), Mike (Bass) who also plays bass in Samandriel, and Chuck (Drums) who also plays in Idolatry and Ivardensphere. They draw inspiration from many bands: Slayer for their in-your-face delivery and lyrical content, GWAR for their stage show and lyrical content, Strapping Young Lad for their chaotic sound and comedic entertainment, Zimmer’s Hole for their stage show and variety of song style, and DevilDriver for their overall heavy/borderline death metal sound.

Their songwriting strategy is simple: start with a guitar riff, structure it, and map it out, from there they add bass and drums, rehearse liberally, and continue to craft the instrumentals until they are completely “fleshed” out. Lyrics are usually written in one sitting by Robert (vocals), once the emotion is found, a story begins to unfold, be it about war, demons, death, torture, and other unpleasantries.

The band has released a self-titled EP in 2014, and plan to release their debut full-length on September 29, 2015, accompanying it will be a booklet with individual band photos, grotesque artistic imagery, and lyrics for the songs. Fans and crowds are guaranteed to be covered in blood by the end of the show with their endless ferocity.

Maybe. But that’s subjective to personal oppinion. But it’s hard to argue with the fact that Alice Cooper is certainly the godfather of shock rock, and an inspiration to countless followers. And it doesn’t get much more quintessentially Alice than the classic track, “Welcome to my Nightmare.”

What you’re watching in the video player above is a performance of that track being played at Wacken, the whole concert of which becomes available on CD/DVD tomorrow (October 21st) via UDR Music.

Alice Cooper Raise The Dead – Live From Wacken will be available as DVD + CD Digipack. The DVD contains 22 songs from the Wacken concert, including covers of The Doors’ “Break on Through,” The Who‘s “My Generation,” and Pink Floyd‘s “Another Brick in the Wall.” Plus there’s bonus material shows and a 20-minute interview with the man himself, and the double CD features music from the complete concert. The set is also available in Blu-Ray Amaray (Full HD) format.

Not only is Alice Cooper Raise The Dead – Live From Wacken an excellent release, it also benefits charity! When Alice learned about the charity aspect of the set, he was very happy to be one the first to participate and support the Wacken Foundation. The Wacken Foundation is a non-profit organization, supporting the new blood of hard rock/heavy metal music. For every CD/DVD sold, € 1 will be contributed to the Wacken Foundation.

GWAR-B-Q

gwar meat and meetAntarctic metal monsters, GWAR are kicking off their spring run of dates with a special “Meat and Meet” at the world-famous Grinders in Kansas City, Missouri. The “Meat and Meet” is scheduled for Monday, April 8th, from 6-8 p.m.

This event is not only for GWAR to drink and eat themselves into a bloated coma with their legions of slavering fans, but to announce and introduce their brand-new and 100% edible GWAR-B-Q sauce, personally created for human consumption by none other than GWAR’s steel-faced guitar player, Balsac, the Jaws of Death.

“This new taste sensation is mostly made out of the blood of really hot chicks,” explained the surprisingly cordial space-barbarian. “It was a terrible waste of fine ass, but ultimately worth it because this sauce is absolutely delicious!”

GWAR will kick off the second leg of the Fate or Chaos tour on April 10th in Tucson, Arizona, and will run through April 25th in Jacksonville, Florida. Support on the tour will come from Warbeast and Wilson. All dates can be found below.

The summer will also herald the fourth annual GWAR-B-Q, and this year is shaping-up to have the most colossal, bone-crushing line-up yet! But that’s not all from your toxic mutant under-lords. Rumors of boxed sets, GWAR-B-Q sauce, GWAR beer, and long-awaited “comedy” albums abound. Further details about all of these projects would have to wait until “we get our shit together,” said Oderus.

Lizzy Borden – Death Takes A Holiday https://www.yellmagazine.com/lizzy-borden-death-takes-holiday-tour/21313/ https://www.yellmagazine.com/lizzy-borden-death-takes-holiday-tour/21313/#respond Sun, 09 Oct 2011 07:19:14 +0000 https://www.yellmagazine.com/?p=21313 Lizzy Borden, named after the notorious New England woman, Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted for killing her father and stepmother, has always been a tough band to categorize. There’s no denying that they are a shock-rock band heavy on theatrics, but at the same time they’re an epic glam metal band with elements of power metal. In the end, it’s a kick-ass recipe for some wicked tunes and a great stage show. Seriously, how does horror, sex, and metal not make for a memorable event?

Lizzy Borden – “Psychopath”

As stated, Lizzy Borden is a highly theatrical band that features scripted and simulated death, blood, sexy dancers, axes, costumes, vampirism, and much more. Yes, the band has shifted its look from horror glam to goth, but that doesn’t categorize them as poseurs. So, all of you uneducated trolls out there posting comments about Lizzy Borden being fake or mocking how they’re glam with a death metal look, do your research before commenting (you won’t look so stupid if you do). It’s baffling that the generation making these shitty comments about something they don’t understand grew up with a world of information at their fingertips and can’t or refuse to use it. Morons. Two minutes of Internet research would inform you that Lizzy Borden established themselves long ago as a band based on their look (this is if we ignore the excellent songwriting, playing, and singing), and as such they are entitled to change it up how and when they see fit.

OK, my rant is done.

The point of this article is to let you know that Lizzy Borden is about to take to the road again. The new tour is called Death Takes A Holiday Tour. A few of the dates to note include: November 19th, in Guadalajara, Mexico, at the Hell and Heaven Festival where Megadeth will also play a set; November 25th, at the Christmas Metal Festival in Lichtenfels, Germany, with Saxon and Lordi; and December 2nd, in Prestatyn, North Wales, at the Hard Rock Hell Festival with Ace Frehley and the Quireboys.

Lizzy Borden Live In 2010

You can be sure to see newer material such as “Under Your Skin” and “Tomorrow Never Comes,” but if you have any luck you’ll also see such classic gems as “Me against the World,” “American Metal,” “Master of Disguise,” “Psychopath,” “Love You to Pieces,” and “Master of Disguise.”
