Actually, he was kind enough to spend time with us after their set (and after his shower). The set was amazing, full of power, aggression, and, of course, humor.

We talked a little about politics, inspiration, fake news, categorizations, genres, hiatuses, pop music, the upcoming new album (it’s called Zero Days and is coming out on July 28th), future tours, and collaborations.

If you’re unfamiliar with Prong, the band formed in 1986, has taken two relatively long hiatuses, and has come back strong since 2012, releasing four albums in a five year period. Emerging from New York City, the band naturally started out as a hardcore outfit, but soon found a home within the groove metal genre, which led to their inspiration for bands to come, such as Korn and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor. So, if your a fan of those bands and their ilk, then you might want to check out Prong.

But the hardcore and groove isn’t where it ends with Prong, the band also dabbles in funk, pop punk, and, if you listen closely, you might catch some jazz elements creeping up from time to time.

It’s my opinion that Prong has been and thrives as an underdog, but if you look at the pedigree of artists Tommy has worked with, it becomes clear that he’s deservedly well-respected among his peers. Some of the musicians he’s worked with include Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Trent Reznor, Glenn Danzig, Ministry, Soulfly, and many others.

But none of that really matters when the music kicks ass. Get to know Tommy Victor a little bit with our interview, and then go bang your head (and snap your neck) to some Prong!
