Check out the strange new track, “Life,” from Brazilian power metallers, Hibria. It’s strange because it kicks off as if it’s going to go in one rockin’ direction, with a sound as crisp and shiny as chrome, but then the classic metal riffs come in before the high-reaching power metal vocals, and then there’s a sobering sadness that envelops the song like a wet blanket (accompanied by orchestrated strings, of course), and then there’s the note-perfect solos, then it’s back to heavy metal riffs… it all really kinda messes with your head. But the more I listen to it, the more I like this powerfully engaging “ballad.” Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think.
Hibria will release their fifth and upcoming self-titled full length on August 7, 2015, for North America. Album pre-order available here.
