Fans familiar with The Walking Dead comic book series will be happy to hear that one of Robert Kirkman‘s most beloved character has now been cast for season six.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Payne (Luck, The Physician) will play Paul Monroe, aka Jesus, a character who was first encountered in issue #91 of Image Comics’ The Walking Dead. For those unfamiliar, Jesus is a survivor and resident who lived in a community called the Hilltop Colony which held almost two hundred other survivors. He was initially mistrusted by Rick Grimes and his tribe, but eventually gains respect from them.
The cast of season six continues to grow with the recent addition of Xander Berkeley who is rumored to play the Hilltop leader Gregory. Plus, Corey Hawkins (as Heath), Merritt Wever (as Dr. Denise Cloyd), and Ethan Embry (as Carter) have also been attached to the show.
The Walking Dead season six is set to premiere Sunday, October 11th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT with an extended 90-minute episode.
