Combining elements of gothic metal, industrial metal, and metalcore, Motionless in White just released their latest album, Infamous, and the lead video, “Devil’s Night” on November 13, 2012. The video itself is pretty horrific, featuring the band converting faceless people, by way of reconstructive facial surgery with a straightedge razor, to their cause. Oh, my god, is my face still intact? Ok, good, I still don’t like metalcore.
However, there are elements in “Devil’s Night” that appeal to me and the video is pretty badass, even if it borrows heavily from certain Marilyn Manson imagery.
On Motionless in White’s sophomore release, Infamous, lead singer Chris Motionless stated the following:
“It’s been two years since the release of Creatures and I am finally here to announce the arrival of Infamous. I’ve never been as happy with anything I’ve ever written for this band as I am with this record. I feel like a lot of bands today stick to these unwritten set of ‘rules’ when writing their songs, as though there’s this barrier that they ‘aren’t allowed’ to break through that prevents them from taking risks. I really wanted to challenge that concept and explore a lot of different styles of music in one record, even more so than we did with Creatures. This record has something for everyone. We really hope you love Infamous as much as we do, and that we all carry on this new chapter in our career together.”
