About once a year, since 2009, we get news of work on Halloween 3D starting up again. At this point, news of the ever elusive Halloween 3D are kind of like the people who annually predict the apocalypse. And my reaction to both is often the exact same: Sure, yeah. I’ll believe it when I see it.
But once again, there are reports of The Weinstein Company looking to get Halloween 3D up and running. Sequel? Reboot? Who knows! I know that screenwriter Todd Farmer and his co-writing and directing partner Patrick Lussier (both notable for My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry) had written a script a few years ago, but it’s unclear whether or not they’re still involved. They’re both really hard workers who deserve a shot at this one.
Although, I kind of wish that Rob Zombie would have writing/directing duties with the series until about Halloween 40: The Re-Re-Revenge of Michael Myers, just to see all the batshit routes that Zombie would take the series down. I want to find out that the Myers are aliens, and I want to see Bill Moseley play about 20 different characters over the course of the series, all with classic Rob Zombie character names like bounty hunter “Two Shot” Graves and weird, drunk coroner Elvis Saint Presley.
