Wanderlei Silva missed some required pre-fight medical exams, and now he’s off the card at UFC 175, proving Chael Sonnen right. For months, Sonnen has been saying that Silva wouldn’t step inside the cage with him, and it doesn’t matter whether or not Silva’s missed exams was an intentional act, it looks like he’s avoiding “The American Gangster.”
So who will Sonnen fight? Enter Vitor Belfort, according to Combate. Although Belfort would prefer to be facing Chris Weidman for a Middleweight title shot, he has the OK to fight in Nevada and will easily be licensed to fight Sonnen. Reports also indicate that this fight will remain a light heavyweight bout.
There is also speculation that Silva’s UFC contract will be terminated as a result of his actions, that is missing the medical exams.
Yell! Magazine will keep you posted as this story develops further.
UFC 175 will be held on July 5th, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
