The 18th annual Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal is going to screen over 160 genre films this year, so it’s going to be a challenge to sort through the massive selection and pick the best ones for your dollar. We know genre fans don’t want to be held back by that constraint, but it’s sort of necessary to pick and choose wisely this year so you can at least put food on the table next month.
If you plan on seeing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on July 29th, then shoot yourself in the head right now because that’s not the type of film you check out at Fantasia. Save your coin for something like the Canadian shocker, Black Mountainside. Or Suburban Gothic, a horror comedy that is sure to be a crowd pleaser based on the red band trailer that was just released, thanks to Deadline Hollywood. The film stars Criminal Minds‘ Matthew Gray Gubler and the beautiful Kat Dennings from Thor: The Dark World.
Check out the trailer above and plan your 2014 Fantasia experience around Suburban Gothic. You won’t regret it!
