Ovince St. Preux (17-6) is back on the winning track with a solid win last night over MMA legend, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (22-10). Despite being the underdog in Brazil at UFC Fight Night 56, the Haitian-American mixed martial artist quickly stopped the aggressive Brazilian in 34-seconds of the very first round, which is the fastest loss Rua has ever experienced since his MMA debut in 2002.
As the round got started, Rua rushed into the fight using his patented striking blitz, but OSP managed to avoid the strikes with a step back and landed a beautiful check hook. Rua dropped to the ground and OSP continued to land a barrage of punches before referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight. OSP won the bout via TKO, which earned him an additional $50k bonus for Performance of the Night.
OSP’s next light heavyweight fight may be against Brazil’s Fabio Maldonado (22-7), who already accepted his challenge on Twitter.
