Guess who just agreed to fight again inside the Octagon on short notice? I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear that Donald Cerrone has stepped up to face Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 59 on January, 18, 2015.
That’s right, MMA fans! Fresh off a win over Myles Jury at UFC 182 this weekend, Cerrone vs. Henderson is officially set in stone for UFN 59, according to an announcement by UFC President Dana White on Monday. The former Bellator lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez, was originally expected to exchange leather against Henderson, but withdrew from the fight because of the flu. Apparently, the sickness affected his weight and training, forcing Alvarez to pull out of the bout.
Cerrone and Henderson have fought twice before for the WEC lightweight championship. Henderson won the first fight by decision in 2009, and successfully defended the belt with a first-round guillotine over Cerrone in 2010.
This will be the first time they face each other in the UFC.
