Alistair Overeem may have received the greatest knockout in UFC history back in December, but the MMA superstar is ready to make a comeback in a few more months.
That’s right! Overeem is currently booked for UFC 225 in June. The former STRIKEFORCE champ will face Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight contest that shouldn’t be missed by any UFC fan. As most of you already know, “The Reem” encountered a devasting loss to Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 by a deadly knockout punch, which is still very much talked about in the MMA community.
Blaydes is riding a four-fight win streak in the UFC with the biggest victory in his career over Mark Hunt via unanimous decision last month in Australia. The Chicago native also holds notable wins over Oleksiy Oliynyk, Daniel Omielańczuk, and Cody East. He would have five straight wins if he didn’t test positive for marijuana at UFC Fight Night: Bermudez vs. Korean Zombie, which was ultimately overturned.
UFC 225 takes place on June 9th in Chicago. The main has not been officially announced. So stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for much more daily news in MMA.
