Hi Angelica. What do you consider yourself first and foremost: an actress or singer?
Honestly, it’s a total 50/50 split. I get so much pleasure from both arts, and I’m so passionate about both that this question is always a hard one for me. I use both skill sets when practicing the other, so they really do strengthen each other. When singing, I use my emotional knowledge to convey the feeling of the song, and when acting I use my knowledge of tone to help cement different feelings and characters.

What came first?
Acting came first. I started professionally acting at age 7, and started training at age 3. I didn’t start training my voice until I was 12, although my love for singing and music started at a very young age. My father was a musician, and we always sang together when I was little.

Did you have encouraging parents? Were they in the industry, too?
My parents were wildly encouraging, and still are to this day. My mother was an actress-turned-acting-teacher, and my father was an ex rocker, and they always believed in me. They knew what this entertainment world was, and they still thought I could handle it. I have always been so appreciative of their support.

What was your first job in the industry?
My first acting job was a Friendly’s Restaurant Regional Commercial at age 7. I still remember the monologue. Ha.

What’s been the high point so far?
So far, I think my high point has been producing my own music and music videos. Just the accomplishment alone was so fulfilling. And I think in my acting career, my high point is still coming, but starring in the film The Chosen was a huge part of my current career take off, because I acquired a wonderful small fanbase of young girls, who inspired me to start producing and writing my own music again after a few silent years.

Where does Psychos rank?
Psychos was a great experience because, for the first time in my life, I played a role in the production side of the film as well as starring in it. I had the pleasure of casting a few of the roles, and that was a really fun experience. Getting to choose the actors you surround yourself with, after you get cast, is a blessing. We had a role cancel last minute, and I happened to hear about it. So, I told the director, Sandy, that I could help with last-minute casting through one of my acting studios, since it was so last minute, and I got the chance to hold auditions and help with the selections.
