This is ludicrous. If it’s the case, as the general media is perpetuating, why are these kids somehow being influenced by the Creepypasta Slender Man fan fiction? Are 12 year olds that impressionable?
Watch the video above for a fan-made account of Slender Man. Keep in mind that since the Slender Man legend is fiction, so too is this bullshit mini-doc.
Personally, I don’t buy it. Sure, the two girls in Wisconsin and now the 13-year-old Ohio girl who stabbed her mother have a Slender Man interest in common, but my guess is that these girls have other problems. And if it wasn’t Slender Man, it would have been something else.

It’s just as likely to be a Slender Man influence as it is to be a Jason Voorhees or even a God influence. Hey, it could be bathsalts again. I hate blame on media such as games, music, and movies. And I hate journalistic media for citing such things.
My guess is that the Ohio girl, who is facing charges as a juvenile (where her Wisconsin peers are being charged as adults), heard about the Wisconsin Slender Man stabbing incident and thought that she should do the same.
The Ohio girl’s mother commented to local television:
I came home one night from work, and she was in the kitchen waiting for me, and she was wearing a mask, a white mask. She was someone else during the attack.
Further to that, the mother said that after hearing about the Wisconsin incident she began to fear the same influence was upon her daughter, who, as the mother said, does have mental health problems:
We found things that she had written and she made reference to Slender Man. She also made references to killing. She even created a world for Slender Man in the game Minecraft.
That’s it, it’s Minecraft’s fault.
What’s your take: Is Slender Man to blame? Do think it’s fair to blame media like games, music, movies, fiction, etc. for such tragedies?
