Anti-Flag will release their new album, American Spring, on May 26th, through Spinefarm, however, you can stream the album in full via Arts for Amnesty, which is Amnesty International’s (AI) platform that brings together artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and all types of creatives who help us navigate the complex human rights challenges we face today.
A-F and AI are of the same mindset, which is turned into action. The decade-plus relationship has seen Amnesty International volunteers serve as speakers at Anti-Flag shows. In 2013, the band joined forces with Art for Amnesty to release an electrifying version of “Toast to Freedom,” the now-classic commemorative song written to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International. Prior to that, Amnesty International and Anti-Flag launched a 2012 campaign against torture and the NDAA Indefinite Detention Provision. To raise awareness, they released a music video for “This Is the New Sound.”
Clearly, the relationship is one based on a desire for change and to protect human rights.
Amnesty International is an organization that actually saves lives. Daily, their mission is to speak up and stand up for those who cannot for themselves. The record American Spring is about the very same idea. We have been honored to have Amnesty International table our shows and spread the agenda of human rights and equality, continuing the battle against injustice. Having them premiere our record is a truly humbling experience.
