Every time you look, it seems that there’s someone new claiming to be vegan, or at the very least vegetarian. And if you’ve paid attention at the grocery store, there are always new options for vegetarians popping up and growing sections for organic foods.
This is a great thing. I think that we, as a general population, eat an excessive amount of meat (although I believe that we should eat meat) and we consume too many genetically modified foods (GMO) foods. I’m not here to preach, as it’s not the point here, but according to data from the US Department of Agriculture (as reported by vox.com) 93% of corn, soy, and cotton produced in the U.S. is genetically modified, and that has resulted in up to 70% of processed foods containing GMOs.
Although there’s no good scientific evidence that proves GMOs are bad for your health, you can’t really go wrong in trying to avoid them as much as possible. This is especially true as you try to adopt a more vegetarian lifestyle, which brings us to the point of this article:
The Vegan Black Metal Chef
Who is the Vegan Black Metal Chef? Well, he’s a YouTuber who goes by the name Brian Manowitz in real life. As his alter ego suggests, he’s vegan, a cook, and into black metal. In fact, he’s in two black metal bands, and as you watch his recipe videos on YouTube, you’ll soon discover that he’s doing the music and vocals for each. You’ll also discover his twisted sense of humor when he sings instructions like, “eviscerate the fruit,” “sacrifice a few knifefuls of Earth Balance,” and “summon your spices from beyond.”
But the Vegan Black Metal Chef doesn’t stop at instructional videos set to black metal music. Nope, this guy goes all out with medieval props, corpse paint, and costumes.
You might think that the black metal aspect would repulse some people, but the Vegan Black Metal Chef has over 58,000 YouTube subscribers and he’s been featured on ABC news:
The Purpose of the VBMC Project:
The Vegan Black Metal Chef Project has two main purposes:
1) To help answer the question, “What do vegans eat?” And to show vegan cooking in the most informative and fun way possible while making some great music to go along with it.
2) To help people bring consciousness to their lives and actions. The first will be addressed with, of course, the videos and various articles under the “Feed Your Body” category. The second will be addressed with a series of articles and videos under the “Feed Your Mind” category. My greatest wish is that you find this useful. Thank you all for all of the great support.
Our suggestion is for you to try some of the Vegan Black Metal Chef’s recipes. Who knows? Maybe your health could improve. At the very least, check out his YouTube channel and enjoy his creativity. Also, don’t forget to head over to his website (links listed below).
