Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome – Episodes 5 & 6

Not much happened in the latest two episodes of Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Commander Ozar delivered a package. Adama, Coker, and Dr. Kelly fought off some Cylon fighters and crash landed on Djerba, where they encountered an unusual creature.

Episodes 5 and 6 really showed the budgetary limitations of Blood & Chrome. At a reported $2 million, the CG really suffered this week, which leads me to believe that it must be easier to hide the flaws in space scenes, where the background is black, than on an ice planet, where the background is white. However, I’m no expert in these types of things.

Also, the unusual creature was a Syfy staple snake-type creature. And yes, the CG limitations were evident here as well, though not as obviously as they were in Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.

Despite the CG limitations, and Adama’s annoying eye color, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is still tons of fun to watch. There’s been some speculation bandied about that this is actually an extended pilot for what could be a new series on Syfy. Let’s hope it makes it.
