Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome – Episodes 7 & 8 – Skin-Job Exposed?

While episodes 5 and 6 of Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome showed flaws in its special effects, we can at least be comforted in the fact that some effort was put into making the Cylons were believable in episodes 7 and 8.

So, our last surviving marine, Coker, Adama, and Dr. Kelly encounter some Cylons in an abandoned storage facility on Djerba snow planet. The take care of them fairly handily, except for the marine, who makes a stupid blunder no trained marine would ever make. Also, dear Dr. Kelly has her ID tags scanned by a Cylon who seems to process her identification and would have taken her prisoner had Coker not terminated it. Prisoner or brought her home — Is Dr. Kelly a skin-job? A prototype at least?

Hopefully that doesn’t spoil it too much for you.

With only two episodes remaining, and next week being the finale, it’s obvious at this point that this is a movie-length pilot episode for what will hopefully become a new series on Syfy. Which is fine, but the tactics of presenting this on the Internet before going to television are questionable. Yes, it’s relatively successful, being that each week the episodes are getting about a quarter-million views (it’s no “Gangnam Style” though), but if you’re going to present it on the Internet, shouldn’t you tailor it to that format?

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome - Episodes 7 & 8

Each week we’re getting two episodes that amount to segments cut up and ready for commercial time once Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome hits the tube. I get that the attention span on the Internet is somewhat abbreviated compared to television audiences, but we’re not stupid and we certainly deserve more than 12-20 minutes of our beloved BSG.

What do you guys think is the best formula, in terms of length and action/development, for Internet presentations? Let us know in the comments section below.
