After years of speculation and uncertainty, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome finally premiered on November 9, 2012. Actually, two episodes were aired (see them below).

What? You didn’t see it listed in your TV programming? That might be because this spin-off series is actually being produced for the web by Machinima, Inc. and Universal Cable Productions. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will “air” its 10 episodes on Machinima Prime’s YouTube channel every Friday, however, each episode runs about 12 minutes, which means 120 minutes total. That’s about the length of a short movie or a long pilot episode.

Given the length of the episodes and the fact that we’re only two episodes in so far, it shouldn’t take you long to get all caught up before the finale on November 30.

As you’ll see in the first episode, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is a prequel, featuring Adama as a young rookie pilot who’s both gifted and cocky. As fans of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, we get to see why Adama was portrayed as such a badass.

If you don’t feel like waiting to view 12-minute episodes each week, Syfy will be airing it as a movie in the first quarter of 2013.

Check out the synopsis of the series and the first two episodes below:

”This highly anticipated chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, gifted fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, The Borgias), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset. Lili Bordán (Silent Witness) also stars.
