There’s some good and sad news shaking up for Shane Black’s new Predator film. First off, nearly a month ago Benicio Del Toro was in early stages of negotiation to potentially star in The Predator, but that’s now been nixed, according to a recent THR report. What a pity!
Second, it’s now being reported that Boyd Holbrook is in talks to star in the somewhat sequel, which will also serve as a reboot in the Predator franchise. Holbrook has been seen a several new films over the last several years, playing important roles in The Skeleton Twins, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Gone Girl, Run All Night, and Morgan. One of his most notable roles is perhaps playing Steve Murphy on the Netflix series Narcos. Holbrook will also play a villain in the upcoming Wolverine film alongside Hugh Jackman.
At the moment, Black is still directing The Predator off a screenplay he co-wrote with longtime friend and partner Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps, The Monster Squad). Story details for The Predator are still unknown at this time, but The Predator is schedule for a February 9th, 2018 theatrical release.
