As of today, the UFC’s most lucrative and all-time favorite heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar, has officially closed the door on MMA for good. The former UFC star confirmed last night that he re-signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Lesnar is now obligated to defend his WWE heavyweight title against Roman Reigns at the WrestleMania 31 main event on Sunday.
During Lesnar’s interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter, the superstar expressed his thoughts about his final decision to re-sign with WWE, which he said was very hard to make. Lesnar also revealed he has no intention to ever compete in mixed martial arts again:
I’m officially closing the door on the sport of MMA. I signed last night with the WWE. We came to a conclusion last night. The offer on the table I couldn’t refuse. I think it’s fair to the fans, and I want to be fair to the fans to know that on Sunday, I’m going to hold that damn belt. It was public knowledge [that his contract was due and he was considering MMA] and it was out there as to, What is Brock going to do?
So that’s it! Lesnar legacy inside the Octagon is now officially over. How do you feel about that?
