According to an exclusive report via Deadline, producer and director Bryan Singer (X-Men, House) has closed a deal to reboot Rod Serling’s classic TV series, The Twilight Zone, with speculation that it will air once again on CBS.
Since the project is still in the very early stages of development without a scribe on board yet to pen The Twilight Zone, Bryan Singer will produce and possibly direct the series, which is currently being pitched to network televisions. CBS is considered the primary choice at the moment to broadcast the show because CBS TV Studios holds the rights to the original series that ran on CBS from 1959-1964. The network also crowns the first of two revivals of The Twilight Zone that aired two decades after the original series ended, running from 1985-1989.
It’s fair to say that Bryan Singer seems to be the perfect candidate to take on this project considering he had a successful run with House, and has recently helmed another reboot of a classic series, NBC’s Munsters-themed Mockingbird Lane pilot.
In addition to this news, a Twilight Zone feature film remake is also currently in the works by director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) for Warner Bros with Jason Rothenberg as writer.
