Cat Zingano was a 3-to-1 favorite going into the fight against former STRIKEFORCE champion Miesha Tate, and took in a surprise victory at the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 17 tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the second women’s match in UFC history, Zingano (8-0) pulverized Tate in the Octagon and won by TKO at 2:55 of the third round. Zingano currently holds an outstanding professional MMA record, much like her next opponent, the UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey (7-0).

“It’s going to come down to heart, to technique, to speed. It’s going to be a battle. You’re going to watch,” Zingano said after the bout.

Ronda Rousey followed up as well, and said the following right after the Zingano post-fight interview with Jon Anik:

“Cat really showed that she was able to perform under pressure. I’m going to be ready for that”.

She definitely earned herself a shot at the UFC strap tonight, and will also coach on the next season of TUF, which is slated for September 4th, and the show has been officially moved from FX to the new FOX Sports 1 network on Wednesday nights, Dana White confirmed.
