In the past year, Cat Zingano (8-0) has gone through some of the hardest moments in life, her husband Mauricio Zingano took his own life back in January. Prior to that, Cat has been battling a knee injury that she suffered after her UFC debut against Miesha Tate that forced her to cancel her coaching gig on The Ultimate Fighter Season 18. An injury that required a PRP and stem cell treatment on both of her knees at the Ortho Regenerative Institute with Dr. Fady Elias in Costa Mesa, California.
Now, the No.1 bantamweight contender is clear to fight again and is ready to return inside the Octagon again for her second fight in the UFC. Unfortunately, due to the long absence from sport, she won’t be getting an instant shot at the title against champion Ronda Rousey.
Cat’s second fight in the UFC is scheduled for UFC 178: Jones vs. Gustafsson 2 on September 27, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She squares off against Brazilian mixed martial artist, Amanda Nunes (9-3).
