Just about a month after the announcement of Rob Zombie’s miniseries about the Manson Family slayings comes the news of yet another Charles Manson-based series.
This time around David Duchovny (The X-Files, Californication) has signed on to lead the ITV Studios America- and Marty Adelstein-produced event series, which will be brought to us by Bob Greenblatt and NBC. The series, titled Aquarius, has been slated for a 13-episode run and will be a 1960s cop drama focusing on a police sergeant (Duchovny) “who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree,” according to Deadline.
Aquarius will follow Duchovny’s character, who has a complicated life, and his young partner as they infiltrate the Manson family. However, the 13-episode run want conclude with the infamous 1969 Tate-labianca murders. These events are said to be reserved for subsequent seasons.
Hopefully NBC can create something as gritty and macabre as Hannibal.
What do you think: do we need more than one television series based on Charles Manson?
