Why Is Courtey Love Going To Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony?

So, Courtney Love is going to be in attendance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April. Is Hole being honored? you ask. Nope. She’s going to be there because Nirvana is being inducted, as is KISS, which is another issue all by itself.

Besides being the widow of the late Kurt Cobain, what right does she have to be there. Well, she does have the rights to the Nirvana catalog, so there’s that. The fact is, however, that she had nothing to do with Nirvana’s eventual greatness. She’s not being honored, Dave Grohl and Kirst Novelsic are. Love might have a right to be there, but out of respect and dignity she should politely not attend.

What I think she’s doing is using this event as a patform from which to launch — or at least publicize, because it launched today on February 14th — her official YouTube channel/Webseries. In the “trailer” for the YouTube series, Love states: “Is there anybody on the planet who would be watching this that doesn’t know that Dave Grohl and I don’t get along?” Watch the trailer in the player above.

Adding to the evenings inevitable awkwardness, Love said to Access Hollywood,
“We’re going to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I think we’re all sitting at the same table.” Watch Love share more in the video below.

The 29th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place on April 10th. HBO will show the ceremony in May.

Absolutely! He (Kurt Cobain )was her husband and the father of his only child. Kurt loved Courtney, it was his choice. He obviously saw the good and the lovable in her. So out of respect for the dead in general, and out of respect for Kurt’s wishes, if you are at all a Nirvana fan, I sincerely hope we all pay the respect that Courtney is due. She and She alone, even with all of her troubles, had to carry on with the mess he left behind. She has had a bumpy road, but that is life. She has come out of it and seems better than she has been in a long time. I think it is high time (no Pun Intended) that Courtney, Dave, and Krist just all kiss and make up already. What a beautiful sentiment that would be for not only the fans but for Frances Bean and I think that would make Kurt smile down on the event with happiness.Rest In Peace my sweet Kurt, I will always love you and adore your family, Peace, Love and Empathy, Jeannie De`Ann Sullivan

    • Thanks for your well-stated response. Honestly, I am (the author of this news piece) split in my opinion. I see your points and “adult me” agrees with you, however, “teenager me” still harbors mid-’90s resentment toward Love. For me, and many other former grunge kids, Love is my Yoko Ono of sorts.
