After a failed drugged test and recently arrested without bond in February, a life back in the UFC for Brazilian mixed martial artist Thiago Silva (16-3-2) is possible. Thiago who was previously charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon that involved his estranged wife Thaysa Kamiji and her partner has been omitted of all those charges, including one count of resisting an officer without violence, on Thursday after she refused to cooperate with authorities.
Soon after the UFC learned Thiago was acquitted of all charges, Dana White revealed he would let him fight again in the company.
When this thing went down, I said he’d never fight in the UFC again. When I watched it unfold on TV and heard of the charges, it didn’t look good for Thiago Silva, but he was acquitted of all charges. How do you not let the guy fight again?
In addition, White confirmed Thiago is back under contract with the UFC.
He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted, he deserves to be able to make a living again. He’s back under contract.
There’s no official word yet on who Thiago will fight next, but we’ll keep Yellers in the loop once the UFC announces it.
