David Fincher, one of my all-time favorite director may be attached to the epic sequel of World War Z starring Brad Pitt. It’s definitely an intriguing turn for the franchise since Fincher doesn’t typically attach himself to this type of genre.
It’s already known in the industry that Pitt and Fincher are very close friends, both have worked together on numerous films before such as Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So I’m not surprised if Pitt approached his long-time friend to potentially helm the World War Z sequel.
According to Variety, Fincher has already been discussing a sequel with Pitt, Paramount Pictures, and Skydance, which he would potentially direct if negotiations go as planned in the following few weeks. There’s obviously no official deal set in stone yet, but “negotiations are much further down the road” then most of us think. If the deals gets inked then this will be Fincher’s fourth collaboration with Pitt in over 20 years.
World War Z 2 is currently slated for release on June 9th, 2017.
