Chicago’s Diamond Plate has just released a new video for the track “Dance with Reality.” It’s a hard rock track, from melody to chorus, with a ton of heavy metal sensibility. And the video, aside from the kick-ass Chevelle, is a nice supernatural tale in which our driver is caught in a time loop. The sound on this track is a bit of a divergence from Diamond Plate’s previous work, which is firmly rooted in thrash metal. Actually, the sound is a point of concern for some butt-hurt fans on YouTube. Christ, man, the band is only two albums in! How can anyone say that they prefer their “older stuff”? Diamond Plate doesn’t have older stuff. There’s also someone there complaining about Matt Ares vocals, saying that they need some work. Are you serious! Ares has some wickedly original sounding vocal chops.
“Dance With Reality” was directed by Lester Cohn (Mastodon, Neil Younge, Chevelle) and comes off of Diamond Plate’s sophomore album, Pulse, which can be purchased at Amazon: CD – $15.98
Diamond Plate comments about the video:
Our goal with this music video was to capture the band’s live energy in a cinematic way while giving the viewer more than just a video of us playing live. Thanks to our director, Lester, our cinematographer, Andrew, all of the cast and crew, and the 1966 Chevelle for being a badass motherfucker.
Diamond Plate is:
James Nicademus – Drums
Konrad Kupiec – Guitars
Matt Ares – Vocals/Bass Guitar
