The UFC is finally heading to the capital city of Canada. For the first time in the history of the Zuffa owned banner, the UFC will be headlining an epic fight card in Ottawa, which is also the first UFC event of the year in Canada.
As many of you should already know, UFC Fight Night 89 will be headlined by top 5 welterweight contenders Rory MacDonald and American mixed martial artist, Stephen Thompson. According to recent reports, this could be MacDonald’s last fight before looming the free agency market for much more money.
I will be a free agent afterwards. Basically, we didn’t really come to an agreement so I am going to honor the contract and go from there.
Besides the main event of UFN 89, the UFC is now targeting another welterweight bout for the co-main event between the “Cowboy”, Donald Cerrone and Canadian MMA veteran, Patrick Côté. The UFC is expected to make an official announcement for the 170-pound fight shortly.
UFC Fight Night 89 will be held on June 18, and might take place at the Canadian Tire Centre.
