With Saint Patrick’s Day a few days away, it makes perfect sense to be promoting a band out of Ireland. Right now that band is Dread Sovereign, from Dublin.

Dread Sovereign All Hells MartyrsA couple of weeks ago, we brought you news of their debut promo track, “Cthulu Opiate Haze,” which was incredible, and today we’re bringing you a new track, “Cathars to Their Doom.” (Click through to stream it at Pitchfork.com)

If you liked “Cthulu Opiate Haze,” then you’re absolutely going to sell your soul for “Cathars to Their Doom.” Once again, there’s an early Ozzy Osbourne quality to Nemtheanga’s vocals, and the music is just languid and heavy and beautiful. About half way through, the tempo and melody makes a dramatic shift with a near uplifting vibe and allowing the musicians some room to show off. Honestly, I haven’t heard the new album, All Hell’s Martyrs, in its entirety, but if the rest of the album is as good as this, Dread Sovereign could be in the running for a place on 2014’s best metal albums or 2014’s best Doom Metal albums, and definitely on 2014’s best debut albums list.

Check it out and let us know if you think it could rank on a best-of list for 2014?
