The Holy Grail of all run-and-gun FPS games, Duke Nukem, is getting a new sequel developed by Interceptor Entertainment. This will be the first new game in the franchise since the semi-successful Forever, which literally took forever to make. However, the new game, currently titled Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, won’t be an FPS, but rather an action-adventure role-playing game, according to canny fans who deciphered a chunk of text released by the developer.
The original plan was to attract 10,000 Facebook likes to translate the firm-written text, but it was cracked by Reddit fans ahead of time:
The king makes his next generation debut in Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction. A top-down action role-playing … Duke Nukem kicks ass across planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galactic adventure to save the president from an apocalyptic alien threat. All-new enemies, a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weaponry, and series-first mechanics; including experience points and tech trees, will let Duke rip ’em a new one in a way he never has before.
In addition, the cracked text also reveals that Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction will only be dropping for the PC and PlayStation. Sorry Xbox owners! Apparently, a new reveal about the game will be made public on February 25, 2014.
So stay tuned for that on Yell! Magazine.
